I installed windows regen on a friend's laptop last night, and actually got to play around with the full emulator. Very nice work! I'm getting more and more excited for the coming linux release. Using the emulator on a laptop made me realize however that regen currently does the whole stretch thing when fullscreened on a widescreen monitor. Since my monitor is widescreen as well, I was wondering if there's any chance of letterboxing (pillarboxing? whatever it's called when you have the black bars on either side) being implemented for these setups. Is this possible to implement, Aamir?
I bring the trouble.

Hi,

Do you mean keeping the aspect ratio? If yes, than its already implemented :) .

Really? Is it a clickable option, or is it just done automatically? It was stretched when I tried it on his computer... sorry if I didn't notice something obvious.

AamirM's old website is gone; the old files should be uploaded soon. ;)

[edit] Forgot to insinuate that the new website is also up. :B

Hmm, I finally got around to checking out the emu.

There seems to be a small number of bugs though...

HQ3x's plugin doesn't seem to work, even though I'm using 960x720 Windowed. It seems to work fine in VBA-M.

Edit: Any of the "3x" versions of the filters don't work, such as LQ3x and Scale3x.

Also, HQ4x crashes the emu altogether (it's not handled correctly, let alone gracefully).

Edit: Probably includes the other 4x filters as well.

After defining the keys, "Configuration Successful" message has an extra l in successful...

The FPS counter without any filters needs to be moved inward a tad, as part of it gets cut off.

The extra 'L' is right.

About the FPS cutting off, what version you are using? That should've been fixed in 0.85. And how much FPS are you getting?

For the plugins problem, 3x and 4x scalers aren't supported yet.

If that's British English, I apologize... but I'm pretty sure the spelling involves one "L" for American English.

I'm using the P3 build that you linked on the first post (I have an Athlon64, but running on Win2k). FPS is around 60. With filters, it's hovering over 55, but still more than adequate for me.

The text issue occurs w/o filters. When filters are enabled, the FPS counter becomes a bit smaller and fits with the profile appropriately.

Ah, ok.

Nice. Did you have the SEGA font just lying around on your computer? :P [edit] Well, I guess a lot of members of this community would have a bunch of video games fonts lying on their computer.

I think the drop shadows are a nice touch, too. If AamirM wants this logo, then all I would need to do is create a gray/black theme.

I always enjoy your icons, man! Though in this case the black looks a bit bland. Would it be too reminiscent of Kega to have it in blue?

Also, I don't think you can use Sonic as your official icon, but this is what I use on my Avant dock: Image

I know it's pixely, but it scales down pretty nicely.

(want to make it all pretty and vectored for me, King of Chaos? hmmmm?)

EDIT: By "have it in blue" I was referring to the logo, and not the console icon. Hopefully that was clear anyway, but just to be sure.

Is there any plan for ups support? Just wondering byuu let you add that on your Regen. Will it work?

Hi,

Yeah, its possible and will work. Thanks to byuu, its public domain. If I can just get his sources to compile :x then it'll be easy.

You don't want it to look like Sega/Kega, right? ;) I thought the black/silver mix made it look quite well. :)

P.S. I didn't make this of course, a guy named Vincent on the Sonic Retro forums did. :)

It couldn't possibly look well, it's inanimate! But it sure looks good! ;)

The website is pretty much finished. I just need to change the icons so that they fit with the color scheme (namingly the comment icon).

Neat!! :D
I'd really appreciate it. One big favor though, please perform the SMD deinterleave process first before applying the patch, so that all end users can create patches against the bin format, and it'll work on both.

I know you can just patch both ways and find out which one gets a matching CRC, but the former will encourage people to make them against the simpler (and much more efficient for patch purposes) bin format. I'll work on the patcher to do the same :)

Also, if you need any help with the code, I can try and help. It uses my template library now which is pretty large and complex, but it should be easy enough for me to port to pure C or something.
