Make ZSNES open when Windows starts?

Post by Siddy »

Hi Guys,
Quick question, is it possible to make ZSNES (Windows version) automatically open when windows starts. What i mean is, when windows loads, can ZSNES come straight up?
Im talking for both win98 and XP. - a dedicated machine ;P

Cheers,
Siddy.

Put a copy of the Zsnes icon in your Startup folder?

Click start/All programs/Startup

Depending on your setup, you might actually want to put a shortcut to ZSNES in your Start Menu. Not that I think it would hurt anything, but you probably don't want to be running executables from within the Start Menu directory tree.

It would. It would create the ZSNES directory configuration files in start up too, and then it'll launch those files at start up as well.

Oh yeah, didn't think of that.

Well now I don't know who to believe. But I don't care enough to test it out myself.

you can always tinker with one of the advanced options in spybot: search and destory to add a value for your user account or all users to make ZSNES start when windows starts

IIRC it's something to do with windows startup
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

You can also do it with regedit, but that's a little risky if you don't know what you're doing. Your best bet is with a shortcut in the Startup folder on the Start Menu. It will try to launch all files in the Startup folder.

At work, we've used a terminal emulator profile in the Startup folder (the actual profile, not a shortcut), but people started making changes to it. Unfortunately when you change certain things, it creates several other files, which Windows would give error messages for when they tried to open at startup. We had to switch to a shortcut and lock the file down so they couldn't change it.
