I had a quick look around the benheck forums.
Compare these two Wii portables:

This one is made by a some dude

This one is made by Benjamin J Heckendorn himself

Which is better?

Obviously the one made by some dude. How the hell is the one made by Ben gonna help me if thiefs come inside my house? It has no pwning capabilities. At least I can throw FrankenWii and cause 20d6 damage.

...why, if there are already snes buttons on there in the same fashion as a gameboy, is there then a port for an actual controller? For two-player?

None of the GameBoys featured X and Y buttons, DS does though.
And none of the GB's (Except GBA) even had L and R.

The controller port, is for a second player.

I think he meant that, like a GameBoy, DS, or any other portable system, it has integrated controls.

I said "same fashion". I wasn't saying that GB has those buttons, just that the screen, buttons... everything is in the same place.

...
2-player would be hard because player 1 will be hpldinh and will have to keep it in a position where p2 will be able to see. It would be awkward.

But for 1-player, the portability is awesome.

I suspect it has a TV out, though it's been a long time since I've seen Heck's SNES hack.

it seems to me the video cable from the base to the folding screen comes straight out. this seems careless of Mr. Heckendorn, as bending the cable at a 90 degree angle will cause the cable to break. the cable should come out sideways at 90 degrees, so the cable can rotate by twisting, like a bottle top, instead of trying to bend the bottle so to speak.

What you people do not realize - this thing has AV out. So you can connect a tv, plug a second controller into the portable, then play both on the TV.

Eh?

EDIT: Oh Gil already mentioned this :-) But yes it has AV out, definitely. Look at the bottom to the left of the controller port.

so I take it the audio signal is put in parallel with the portable's speakers as well as the audio jacks, and the video signal is put in parallel with the video jack?

Not really a problem, because "impedance matching" for home A/V equipment is a lie anyways.
