Uh... yeah, I think that's the past tense of override >_>
But anyway, I was playing Final Fantasy VI, and made a save state right during the final boss fight. I kinda screwed myself over though, because I didn't prepare/equip myself for it. I didn't save in the actual game until much further back, and I don't want to redo a huge chunk of the game. So I really just want to load the state I made before the current state, so I can equip myself, then fight the battle, if that makes sense. Can this be done?
Is there a way I can load a state that I had overridden?

Nope. Once you overwrite a state, you've written over that state.
It's not there anymore. It's been destroyed by the new state.
You're kinda screwed.

your only hope is if your filesystem has versioning turned on for that directory. in Windows, check Properties/Previous Versions; on a recent Mac, look in Time Machine.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

The 'Auto increment save slot' feature is for you, my friend.

Unless you use joystick bindings for the save state keys. In which case, the zero delay auto repeat will save about 25 states for every tap of the button. Remember, that design is intentional.

Doesn't mean it's not stupid.
