Massive Netplay

Post by Nach »

Some of the team have been recently working on something extremly exciting.

How would you like to multiplay with your friends (up to 5, unless you have spectators in which case unlimited) on a dedicated server network?

But before you say it's been done before, what would you say if you were able to chat via text and speak too?

And not to mention it being super quick thanks to recent breakthroughs in P2P tech.

Also, would you be willing to pay a nominal fee to access games like you can with Console Classix? Possibly we'd also have the option to upload a game to your own personal account on the server so you can use it when you're away from home.

And we're not just talking SNES, I know many of you would like todo this with Gameboy games as well.

Lastly, out most impressive feature, while you play, spare CPU cycles will be used to collecitvely brute force reverse engineering of various emulation routines so emulation can be imroved just by you guys playing!!!

Read out paper on the subject to get a glimpse of what you're in store for!

I must say, very impressive, even though I haven't read the whole thing yet.

All of you devs are a boon to both the SNES and emulatoin communities as a whole. Where some projects have stagnated, you all continue to improve on the existing, as well as coming up with great new features and projects.

I'll reserve judgement until you have a bit more than a paper.

Does this paper have anything to do with a recent posting on slashdot about some students at MIT and a paper they "wrote"?

I wasn't implying that any of you go to MIT. This just sounds strikingly similar the paper mentioned in the slashdot article.

Uncanny isn't it?

Last thing the team needs is to be sued.

Wow, that'd be amazing. As long as the core functionality of the new multiplayer engine can be used for free, I'd support it.

Perhaps if the pay service works out, you guys could work on cheat prevention system, and have registered members compete in tournaments, climbing ladders for high scores and recognition.

You guys are making some major advances lately. Keep it up, and thanks for the hard work.
