Lag issues & other stuffs

Post by Nerim »

Strange little problem we've run into..

My friend and I play some games using netplay. However, every time, after running smoothly for about 5 minutes, it begins to lag fiercely to the point where it's unplayable. It's really annoying.

I dunno what the problem could be. We've tried a few things (resolution changes...killing programs...the works) but none of them seem to help any.

Also, on another side note, whenever I load a save state, it loads for my friend, but not myself, and we get a desycn problem. To fix this, she has to save it and then load it for it to show up for me. Some strange problems indeed.

We use TCP/IP, not UDP.

Any help would be appreciated.

In order..

DSL (1.5 down, 512 up), the latest, it is, and yes, ports are forwarded.

Also, we've played fine before, this is something recent. I dunno what it might be.

"The latest" is open to intereptetion with Zsnes.

Are you running Zsnes 1.42, the latest Release?

Or are you running the latest WIP?

Or are you running 1.42n, the latest with Netplay support?

Please look in your about box to make sure.

We're using 1.42. Would this be the source of some problems?

Some games using zsnes version 1.42 don't sync well when playing with somebody in netplay. One of these games is super bomberman 2, and also tetris attack goes out of sync when dealing with 1.42. You may want to switch 1.36 as it allows you to play some games on netplay that 1.42 doesn't.
