ZBattle Connection Problems (this forum is my last resort)

Post by Nosferatu »

First let me apologize for posting here. Although I see some Zbattle related topics I know that I should seek help at the offical Zbattle forums first. But I don't do that for 2 reasons: The first reason is that you can't register with email addresses form free services like Hotmail and the second is that the board is pretty small and not very active.

Well, these are the facts:

- I am using a router to establish a ZBattle connection
- Router model is: Netgear WPN824 (http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WPN824.php)
- I am using latest Zbattle verison (ZBattle.net v1.09 SR-1 Beta)
- Windows XP- / Router firewall is completely disabled
- The ports UDP 7845 / TCP 4000 have been correctly forwarded in the router (like, well, 100 times in evey possible way)
- I have read / tried ALL ZBattle & ZSNES related documentation avaiblable
- I have also tried to use DMZ server, without success
- Port triggering doesn't work as well
- I used a DLink router before, forwared ports like with the new router, no problems

No matter what I do the result is always the same: "Error connecting to server.".

Now, there's one weird thing. I WAS able to connect to ZBattle and actually host, join and play games for exactly 2 times. This is what I did:

- Logged onto router config page (on main computer, where router is connected to)
- Forwarded UDP/TCP ports to the IP: 192.168.1.4 (wich is actually wrong because my IP is: 192.168.1.2)
- Disconnected router, re-connected (on config page)
- Started ZBattle, waited till "Error connecting to server." message, left Zbattle running
- Went to config page again, corrected address to my IP: 192.168.1.2
- Disconnected router, re-connected (on config page)
- Clicked "OK" on the error message, closed Zbattle
- Immediately reopened Zbattle and Boom! It connected and I was able to play

I have no clue why this worked but since that I can't connect anymore. Maybe it's because I configed the router from the main computer, I don't now. Well, that's it so far. If anyone has an idea what could be the cause of this problem please let me know as soon as possible.

Here's my network info, maybe it's useful to someone:
