Chrono Trigger lockup in 03/08 WIP

Post by MonkeyforaHead »

I'm just playing through for the first time, and... [spoilers I guess]
Immediately after beating the Golem Boss on board the airship, the game cuts to a scene with Dalton standing by the Epoch. As he says "AND I SHALL NAME IT...", the game freezes.
I'm just downloading the 03/19 WIP to see if there's any difference.

Edit: Can't get a hold of it due to massively irritating problems on my end. Hopefully tomorrow.
For great justice.

Remember that the wips are not completed or fully working. Wips are for testing only.

For your reference, a bug report without NSRT output is next to useless because there's a fair chance that the ROM is bad.

I'm aware that the WIPs are for testing and so forth, which is why I was pointing this out -- and although I don't have any rom-verifying tools, I would bet you $50 that this is a perfectly good rom. Got it from a very reliable site. "Chrono Trigger (U) [!].smc", I believe.

Plus, I just gave it a shot in version 1.42, and it works fine. Currently trying again to get the latest WIP...

I don't particularly care whether you think you got it from a reliable site.. even reliable sites can distribute slightly bad ROMs and using NSRT is generally an easily solution to fix the problem. Last I checked, we still get silly reports while using a bad CT ROM (mostly of the saving variety) so not giving that info is a complete disservice to those that are trying to help you.

In any case, if this bug so bothers you, please use the official version since it is known to work fine there. WIPs are for testing, and if you cannot at least verify the ROM cleanly, then this report is next to useless.

Note: You do delete the .cfg+.dat files when using a newer ZSNES version yes? (It can cause problems if you don't do it.)

Is that what you were looking for?

Anyway, there's no problem with the March 19 WIP, so it's a moot point now.
