Re: Final Fantasy 6 Rippler bug patch corrupts ROM

Solution has been found.

The Rippler patch must be used on a ROM that has a header.

Re: Final Fantasy 6 Rippler bug patch corrupts ROM

I will try to find out more information from romhack.net.

Just wanted to bring this to attention. I'm not particularly bothered by playing with the Rippler bug, as it's an almost non-existent issue (pretty sure there's only one monster that actually uses Rippler).

Final Fantasy 6 Rippler bug patch corrupts ROM

So I've recently started using bsnes (which is fantastic) and along the way discovered that many of my ROMs were actually corrupt. One in particular was FF6 with the Rippler bug patch, which causes the game to hang at the start of a battle. When the screen fades to black in transition to the battle ...

Re: THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS

Amen. I was listening to some Final Fantasy music and got all fuzzy and nostalgic about the days of fantastic JRPGs, and I thought 'wonder what the zsnes team are up to'. Signed into this forum for the first time in years . Glad to see there's still activity (in the forum at least), and that each ne...

Yeah, I did notice those things, but I did not pay any attention to them, because frankly, it's not exciting. Maybe if it was like "zomg!!11 you found some sort of secret tech! Where is it from?!?!!11". I also found it stupid how people talk about the teleportor machine and say how absurd ...

Anybody know if the PS2 game "Metal Saga" is a remake/sequel of this one? They seem pretty damn similar what with the bounties, tank pimping-out, and non-linearity. Yes it is. Just some extra bits on it. "Reception: Although the game's sense of humor and solid hours of gameplay won i...

I know the fonts were ripped from Earthbound, but the game has a certain feel to earthbound. maybe how all the menus are setup? :? Yeah, the menus are more or less the same as Earthbound, and some enemies in battle will do quirky actions that have no effect whatsoever. The style of music actually h...

The menu system and other little tidbits feel like Earthbound.
Looks like a good game so far. Thanks. :D

Deathlike2 wrote:SOM was never really dialog oriented. Sure there was a story, but you spend most of the time button mashing.
Dialog should always be a strong a point in an RPG, though.
After all, this is a genre of game where you spend half the time reading.

Oh, I didn't realize Gun Hazard was a mech game. Mech games are sweet.
Looks a lot like Cybernator, which I found really challenging.

My favourites on SNES are pretty much just the ones I mentioned above, although I did miss Terranigma, which I've yet to complete.

I've finished Starocean. Short game. I have to say, unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by the ending portion of the game. Rather anti-climatic. Panzer88 : Thanks for telling about Treasures of Rudras. Playing it now. It's awesome so far. The magic system is great fun, and the thing that surpri...

Wow, I'm also shocked to find this. How I would love to play the full game. Funny thing though, because I've always had this feeling that Secret of Mana was kind of 'unfinished'. Guess my hunch was right after all. *sigh* Now we're left with another one of life's great mysteries... What could the or...

"I've played pretty much all the good RPGs on SNES" kind of naive. Hey, what? Come on. I've played FF V, FF VI, Chronotrigger, Bahamut Lagoon, Mario RPG, Tales of Phantasia, Zelda, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3. That's more than a lot of good RPGs on the SNES. P.S. check o...

Re: Star Ocean Discussion (skills and talents)

Final Fantasy V? Tales of Phantasia? Treasure of the Rudras? Bahamut Lagoon? Treasure Hunter G? Check. Check. Don't know that one. Check. Don't know that one. FF V's job system is pretty straight forward, I thought. The only reason to look up an FAQ for that is to see what they would learn, so you ...

grinvader: Sweet, thanks. That's a lot of good info.
I've managed to get Ratix and Milly both with a good set of talents, unfortunately, Cius got the short stick (only Animal Love and Sixth Sense).
Iria is pretty standard.

I'll definitely keep Marvel in mind.

I've just reached Tatory (the town with the arena). Did all the necessary tasks, then when I left the town, Iria and Cius both disappeared! I probably have never had to learn this much stuff to play a game. You must not play very many good games :P Well, I've played pretty much all the good RPGs on SNES. None of them have any systems has complex as this. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but characters who don't appear to have any c...

Star Ocean Discussion (skills and talents)

I've only just started playing Star Ocean. Man, what a great game! It's so intricate with the character interactions and skills. The skills and talents, however, have proven to be pretty mind boggling for me. I've looked up FAQs, but they all use the Japanese terms so it's a but confusing. As I unde...
