I finished my cover contracts and got back to work on the controller. I used Grin's photos to make a series of improvements today: 1. Redesigned the crosspad to have accurate arrows and a concave slope. The slope angle is programmable, so I can make it more or less intense. For the arrows, I made a ...

Haneda, the only problem with your display is the max native res. That's pretty low for PC monitor standards, and on the cheaper end for HDTV specs. Ideally, you want 1920x1080 for both displays. You can get away with 1680x1050 for PCs, but for blu-ray movie viewing, its better to have the full-on 1...

I want to add since my thread was locked abruptly, that in addition to the 90-seconds affecting post-editing, the warning you get RESETS the timer. That fucking blows chunks big-time!

CRTs are better for browsing the net and CAD work.Very few LCD monitors have a VESA stand that can rotate the monitor 90 degrees to compensate for the "short screen". I agree with most of your points except this one. WTF do you mean "short screen"? My LCD is just as tall as my C...

The most annoying thing about flood control:

Trying to correct a typo in a post, only to be told over and over again you "cannot post again so soon". I'm not trying to post again! I just want to edit my first post for Christ's sake!!

The liberals would fail first, because everybody would be on wellfair with nobody working to pay for it. Then they'd attempt to become a fully communistic state, causing people to flee for the border into the conservative countries, only we wouldn't take them because they'd just try the same crap al...

I just really hate the idea of enslavement. Lincohn only emanicipated the slaves for political reasons... mainly to trick Europeans into thinking that the war was about slavery. He succeeded. Says you. Sounds like just another groundless attack on past historical figures for the sake of controversy...

There is legal action that can be taken from what I've been researching. First, a restraining order can be filed and their ISP notified, which will no doubt suspend their account and at least legally prevent them from starting accounts on the board (violating this is the same as violating a physical...

I had a lot of fond memories of my Dreamcast. It was a fantastic system for its time, and I was very pissed off when Sega wimped out on it. I remember hooking it up to my monitor to play Code Veronica and being blown away by the visuals.

Ahh this explains why I got notified of a PM that seemed to have been deleted from my inbox before I could read it. Anyway, this reminds me of an even more vindictive attack against me many years ago. I was a regular on the "X-band" modem for the SNES, and even got some fame for winning a ...

There is no halo as far as I can tell... I didn't create a halo when I made it, and I overlayed everything I cut out with solid colors to ensure that nothing was on the borders. They're all PNGs with alpha transparency. You must have done it wrong because the halo is quite noticeable on the boards ...

Get rid of the halo around the letters. Makes me think I've got shit in my eyes when I stare at it. Keep the gloss, but just chop it off at the letter border.

There are only 2 threads, so more cores won't help. Not unless CPU makers implement reverse hyperthreading anyway. (which would require very fast intra-core communication, I guess) But I think he meant: would it be useful to split the process into more threads? yep, that's what I meant. As in using...

It's much easier to rewrite bsnes as a state machine. So I have done this. It's a non public version with savestate support. It has the same accuracy like bsnes, in particular the bus accuracy between cpu and smp. If I remember right the main cause for using threads in bsnes was to reduce the code ...

"Unapplicable"? At first I thought it was a typo for inapplicable, but the irony is when you look it up on the web. Unapplicable is defined as inapplicable!

If anyone knows the name of the official font, I'm sure I'll be able to get my hands on it and make this image better. I tried a couple of online font-identification services, and the closest thing I found was Agency FB Bold Condensed , which still isn't right (the R is particular is different). It...

Updated the image. Now ALL the face fonts have been redone to exactly match the real controller. I realise it's too late now, but I just came across this site with vector-art for nearly every Nintendo logo ever . Actually that's incredibly useful! I was hand-rendering my best approximation of the f...

I'm sure I could whip the mouse out, but the SS is a major undertaking from the screenpics I've reviewed of it. I actually had one many years ago when it was new, but I had since forgotten all the fancy trim it had. I fully intend to do one, but I'm sort of obsessing over the controller for now. If ...

Thanks a bunch for those pics! The money shot was especially revealing, and I also knew ahead of time about the slight convex shape of the front casing. All of these elements will go into the final model, and I am seriously considering a complete model job on each piece so that the entire controller...

Perhaps it's too "restricted", however.
My new favorite of the logos. It uses themes from the real thing, without being lame like mine was. Very nice!

Ok, I went back to the default render for now. I wont go back to the mental ray until I get better using it (my apologies for that, Kick).

However, I did keep the perspective angle and wooden desktop. I like those.
