Re: ROMs all say bad checksum, though they play in Nestopia

If you want to play games with nestopia, here is the Linux version (you must build from source.) Alternatively, you can try gfceu (which should be in your Ubuntu repos) sudo apt-get install gfceu I can't comment on it, but people seem to like it. My personal choice for emulation is mednafen (also in...

Re: F1 button won't work

Do the other F-keys work? If you have one of those disgusting keyboards with F-lock, you would have to toggle.

Well, I haven't run Windows in half a decade, but you've got the same version I used to use... Have you tried going to Start -> System -> control panel, systems or sound I believe... And change any settings regarding buffering or Hardware acceleration? Lowering that value might solve it. Does runnin...

Re: apply permanent text zoom in Firefox 3.5?

Although you've solved it, in the about:config type zoom You'll find an option to turn site specific zoom true/false. If you decide to go the stylesheet approach in the userContent.css try * { font-size: 1em !important; font-family: "Liberation Mono" !important; line-height: 1.5em !importa...

Gelide is nice, and supports several systems.

As for the sdlmame built in gui, when you run it, it gives you those "random" ones, just type a letter to narrow it down.
Type a, get the games starting with a
Type fi, for instant and get final fight, etc.

Quick question, why not

Code: Select all

Or use Applications -> Add/Remove if you like the gui.

Why build it, the repos have the latest version with patches.[/code]

Just install Ubuntu already, 9.04 is out, and zsnes is packaged up properly.

All your zsnes settings, save states, cheats, etc. are stored in a hidden folder in home called
.zsnes

Copy/Archive that, and you're golden.

orly I have *never* had extra line noise with dmix, I have *never* had to kill someone's zombied daemon with dmix. In my view, it is the best option for software mixing available at this time. Agreed. ESD is awful! Don't forget that it locks other applications out of using OSS too! alsa-dmix rocks ...

I just got an Athlon 64 machine last week (thanks to those that donated), so I can finally do in house testing. I've fixed some issues already. However it'll need a lot of work to compile natively at 64 bit. Although after I got Linux set up, it only took me ~5 minutes to get my setup able to compi...

Re: Super Mario RPG

Ive compared Zsnes with Snes9x now i love Zsnes any day but snes9x can run SMRPG without the few problems im sure were all aware of. 1 being the slowdown when too many sprites are on the screen and for this Mario game in particular: the invisible sprites when you enter any room with a title on it I...

iirc ZSNES doesn't support compiling on 64-bit Linux OS'es. I learned this the hard way. Good news, zsnes (from the svn repo), compiles on my ol' opteron 144 under Ubuntu Dapper amd64. The only problem is it gets an error when run (although ./zsnes --help works ;) ) I can run it perfectly under a 3...

compile error

HI, guys. Anyway, I'm happy to help too (I've got zsnes running in a chroot in the meantime). I'm running ubuntu dapper amd64 (testing), so some errors here might not be relevant, but there are a bunch of errors at the bottom regarding x86_64_32. This is straight from the cvs repo, as I try to compi...
