Which ATI driver works best with an old Radeon card?

What's the most stable and feature-rich ATI driver for older (R200-based) cards? Is the newer 'ATI Catalyst for Older ATI cards 6.5' driver better than the old Cat 5.xx series? What was the last (WinXP) version of Catalyst that supported TruForm for R200-based cards? (ATI dropped support for the old...

You can't find anything better than AntiVir and NOD32 :D

As a special bonus, the latest version of AntiVir now includes a very good rootkit scanning engine.

DirectX 10 on WinXP and Vista Aero Glass with < DX9 cards

*Shocking news* DirectX 10 Compatibility Libraries Preview (a preview release is now available for download) These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native mach...

Is there a way to disable WAV logging in the SVN builds?

Is there an option to disable the WAV logging in the latest SVN builds? Even when sound and SPC emulation are both disabled,it still logs the output to a WAV file.

P.S. It would be nice to keep the WAV logging in the next public release (with an option to select the output to file or DSound)

Bad April Fools jokes or real emulator releases?

NullDC 1.0.0 Public Beta 1 <- this one looks like a big joke to me

PCSX 0.9.3 for Linux <- even this one looks fishy

[EDIT]: Seems they're both real :)

Unfortunately this plugin doesn't help at all :( The volume setting doesn't work.Same for the sound recording window - I can't even log the wave output to see what's wrong :( Just try sfex2pj ,go to the sound test and play 'Sound Code 0005' Compare the sound of MAME and that of ZiNc. There's terribl...

I've never had any problems with ZiNc's sound output when runing ZN-1/2-based games. ZiNc's default sound plugin sounds OK,but the output is too loud (internally),so I get heavy distortion (especially noticable when listening through headphones).Turning down the volume on the soundcard to the very ...

Sound problems with ZN games,ZiNc / MAME++ and ePSXe plugins

Is it possible to load and run PSX-based ZN games with ePSXe,to get enhanced graphics and more accurate sound than currently possible with MAME (and ZiNc)? ZiNc is not an option, because the sound distorts badly (although the graphics can be enhanced with Pete's plugins). It's a shame EternalSPU doesn...

VBA k54 also had a nice LCD filter and better PSG sound emulation. VBA Spacy had a better DirectX 9-based renderer. VBA link (also dead) had awesome 4-player link support. Spacy discontinued VBA-S to work on the official VBA code, but no news of him since he made the switch. No$GBA is a pretty good G...

Just try patching SMW with the SMW2+Complete.zip patch from ROMHacking.net
It always freezes DOSBox,even though the rom is patched OK.

[EDIT] I tried fixing some other roms and it works great. It must be that SMW patch.

Tried the latest version - the problem still happens :( When patching a rom,the program freezes using 100% CPU.The ROM eventually gets patched while the app is not responding, but it never recovers to the main menu (I have to terminate the DOSBox process)

And LCDs aren't low resolution...
If 1280x1024 (or even 1600x1200) is enough for your needs, then yes.
If I were to buy an LCD,I would need a SurroundView LCD setup (3x 1280x1024) :)

I know LCD refresh rate doesn't matter in general usage, but those new 120Hz Samsung displays do have a noticeable difference. Also, this is important for emulators such as bsnes where PAL games have to be outputted at 100Hz to get accurate video emulation. Because no PC monitor supports 50Hz,the only...

Don't forget the low resolution, low refresh rates and bad resampling to a non-native resolution.
But as I know,Samsung's gonna address these issues very soon.
So,now it's still not a good time to buy an LCD monitor.

Until I see 120Hz refresh rates,at least 1080p resolution,LED backlights and less dead pixels I'm not thinking of buying an LCD. CRTs can still do much better: 1536p resolution, better contrast and colors,no lag,no dead pixels. (OK,there's the huge Apple Cinema HD display, but its price is far from af...
