Hey, that reminds me- I keep forgetting about the credits for windows making note of the Mac... or perhaps, more precisely, the Xerox Alto.... Oh wait! It's not here! It's almost as if... they wrote it from scratch to do the same thing! credit doesn't have to be given in such a case, especially sinc...

What other forums do you frequent?

Hey guys, I thought this topic might bring to light a good mix of other forums to visit. Personally, I have two that I frequent at least once a day(usually more) Saviour PC™ - Free Computer Help and also, ComputerHope As you can see, they have a similiar theme. ComputerHope is more active, but Savio...

I was actually surprised when I first heard that people have trouble staying asleep after realizing that they are dreaming. Half the dreams I remember are lucid dreams. Heck, a few times I've woken up and not been able to move. Scary the first time, just plain strange every time it happens now. I ju...

Alt-F4 as far as I know sends a WM_CLOSE message to the foreground window. It can be recognized independently, but the main thing is ZSNES should simply reroute the message pump case for WM_CLOSE to the proper cleanup procedures before exiting.

I've been burned trying to help a friend install a program- turns out (at least with the built in zip support in XP) that it doesn't extract Executable files, at least as far as I can tell.

I refuse to own a credit card because it is essentially just a "loan" for the month. like, "here, we'll let you spend up to this much, just pay us back". problem is, they have to make money somehow, and from the looks of things, they're quite successful at it... I'm sure it's jus...

Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music everything in your assembly kicks ass except that- it doesn't even have an X-Fi processor to offload any work from the host CPU, EAX and such is all done in software, as far as I know. pretty much Creative's X-Fi version of the Audigy SE. Running ZSNES in XP would req...

lol- I still have that CD-ROM drive... It doesn't even have an ejecting tray- yoy push it in and the whole assembly slides out, and then you lift a cover and put the CD in. VERY strange. and the 16-bit I/F card that came with it as well. Don't know about the card, I think it might not be in working ...

For a period, Dell used a custom variant that omitted hardware acceleration. If you have the crappy one, the chipset will be labeled EMU10K1X (instead of the full-fledged EMU10K1). I don't know, I'll have to take a look at some point. Might be that someone replaced it at some point though with a re...

perhaps time should be measured in a new unit, which we will dub "pooftime". It is the time it takes to consume a cheesy poof. So we'd have around a hundred poofs makes a bag. So we'd say that we've been waiting in line for five bags. Likely getting slapped by the five women that preceded ...

I'm sure you probably need the same Dell power supply as a new ATX power supply might not fit in the Dell case. Well, it would fit, the problem is that Dell "silently" changed the voltage pins around, yet left the plug compatible in some models. That is, plugging an ATX power supply into ...
