if you a bit techy, try Regmon
monitor the registry access of the game, then conclude what have to be done (or not do)
that of course if the game use registry...

the option to enabled / disabled the 'load SRAM with save state' is a good thing there are game such as E.V.O that do benefit in not loading SRAM from save state for example: recording evo-creature then load but not missing the recorded creature...
