You misunderstood, I was mainly commenting on the fact that it's currently mostly comprised of others' CPU cores, so judging accuracy against other emulators that are also mostly built upon these cores is kind of silly. It's like comparing a Geo Metro to a Chevy Metro. Same car, different name. I c...

Can't have it both ways. Can't be the fastest and most accurate I'm afraid. Not to deviate too far off AamirM's topic, but I daresay there is some emulators that do try to aim for both. That is, they aim for high accuracy, AND be fast. I know blargg's QuickNES is one example. Its cycle accurate, an...

I believe what I am about to say might cause a flame war or instill hatred against me because of my philosophies, but heck, I'll ask anyway: But so long as the above three cores are highly accurate (I know for certain that the Musashi core is far better than Corlett's Starscream core), it should pro...

Second thing I'm looking for is just an SPC player or plug-in that uses blargg's latest core. I'm currently using foo_gep from Kode54, and I'm not sure what he uses, but I'd be interested in greater accuracy if possible. kode54's foo_gep component uses blargg's emulation code  If he is not us...

Amir made seperate SSE and SSE2 optimized builds, so its best you see here, so you get the right version for your processor.

Yes. The duct-tape mode came out like 2 days after the game. That doesn't change that the game as intended is fundamentally flawed, and iD has NEVER seen fit to fix it. I don't see how the game mechanic of forcing the use of either a weapon or a light to not be used at the same time really affects ...

why would they bloat things for no reason? I'm not saying they aren't, I'm asking why they would. One reason I can see is because of their hardware partners such as Nvidia and Microsoft with DX10. (if you make the hardware necessary, some people will buy into it) Any other reasons? Thats one main r...

Well, on the flip side, they can wait for the rendering to be refined speedwise..and let the hardware/drivers catch up at the same time. I see your point...but to me the hardware/driver logic just seems to me to be a reason to bloat things. Say, I program a nice freeware OpenGL graphics engine that...
and yes, Open Al does work. I installed that driver thinking the lack of it might have been what was causing the errors about a week and a half ago. Good to see OpenAL working well for you. Speaking of which, I did some major OpenGL bugfixing which might be helpful for you. I'll compile a build for...

As for the Doom 3 engine, I was referring to the fact that it's mostly DX 8 and below tech. People have gotten it to run surprisingly well on Voodoo 5s. I consider some of the graphical features it supports more DX9-tech than anything. People who have gotten it to run well on old cards its a testam...

Quake 4 has the weird Doom3 engine, so it doesn't really count when looking for DX9 results. ..I hardly consider Doom 3 using OpenGL with OGL 1.4-2.0 extensions a weird engine. Same with Quake 4. Its a extremely optimized engine at that, much more optimized than Crysis, thats for sure. And a lot mo...
