And just because no one has clarified this yet: tearing occurs when a new frame is presented while the monitor is drawing and the new frame is visibly different from the old one in the region that the electron beam (or the equivalent electronics in the case of LCD) is scanning. This can happen at a...

What are your current plans for the architecture? Specifically, are you going to stick with the plug-in model or ditch them in favor of integrating the audio, video and input and add functions that would connect them with the platform specific interface ala VBA or MAME? It would lose some flexibili...

Yeah, not going to lie, I was wrong there. I meant to say that Windows didn't force hardware DEP by default on 32-bit Windows, but that's also outdated information. So I fail on two accounts there. It does force DEP by default, but only on core windows services. You need a hack to disable DEP compl...

Hardware-enforced DEP enables the NX bit on compatible CPUs, through the automatic use of PAE kernel in 32-bit Windows and the native support on 64-bit kernels. This isn't relevant. 32-bit Windows doesn't use hardware-enforced DEP. It does it using software. If you're running 32-bit Windows and hav...
The performance issues may be fixable by adding a override to increase the core speeds, but it might break other things. People demand it and it's annoying when asked. If they don't adhere to fair warning to what those consequences are, they should be flamed when reality sets in (or maybe never, yo...

Actually, the folks at Nintendo already have my name, and even probably most of my current contact info :P Nintendo don't care as long as the person has an original mother3 cart. jesus christ, you two are acting like preschoolers. do i need to turn this car around and go home? squall, reread your last few posts - you're becoming the pot calling the kettle black. also, if your refresh rate isn't an integral multiple of your frame rate, there will be duplicated frames - you'r...

Refresh rate = How many times the screen updates on a vertical and horizontal basis every second, the common reference is to Vertical Hz, ranging from 60 - upwards of 240hz. FPS - How many Frames are drawn by the video card and displayed on screen. If FPS > Hz then tearing may occur. FPS = Hz or FPS...

Auto-detection would be a real problem for PAL games, regardless. Very few of my monitors can handle either 50hz or 100hz. Especially not the LCDs. I sure hope you aren't a parent -- if you are, I feel really sorry for your kids and how they're going to turn out. It's not an issue if you use due di...
