Perhaps a FAQ explaining that retexturing SNES games into hi-res isn't feasible, let alone possible. That would actually be a good thing to do methinks. Leave no room for second guesses. That would indeed be an interesting read. This leads us on to Hi-Res Mode7, it seems that retexturing is indeed ...

I never said C was chinese, I said it was most likely chinese. I posted the goodcodes, but someone edited it to insult me and krille asked me to make it a link. krille provided A link so I just removed the code. I'm sorry franpa, I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did. I just find massive quotes ...

Wow, Franpa was helpful.. that being said, if you break down the code based on gllt's post, it means hacked Japanese ROM to (possibly?) Chinese for the Genesis. h = Hack 1 = Japanese Genesis C = Chinese so it was probably a hacked japanese Genesis ROM to output Chinese, or something. EDIT: ...

First of all, I'm sorry, I didn't know these things were highly system specific, as suggested by funkyass. In this case I had SNES in mind. But I thought they may have 'cross-console' meanings, while still within the console roms 'scene'. when asking yourself the question, "should i run a fixed...

So [h* is bad then and shouldn't be played? What about [f* vs [!]? franpa, that is good and all but it doesn't really answer the question, yet it bloats the thread. Please edit out that massive text. I uploaded the GoodCodes.txt via Google Docs here: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=ddmjzkpg_2cgv2...

What do things like [h1C] mean?

All I've found on this is the following thread at EmuTalk: http://www.emutalk.net/archive/index.php/t-4015.html Going by that, 'h' would simply mean 'hacked' in some way and '1' would simply be a differentiator between hacked roms. But what would the 'C' part mean? Let's say we found a subset of the...

Someone should compile a list of which format is best for what games. There really is no point. You get 15 extra lines (whoopdeedoo) in a few games (it would surprise me if it was more than a handful), but even then, it just doesn't weigh up against the disadvantages. If you disagree, of course you...

Alright, so it's not only the refresh rate but the games were even coded for NTSC then? (This would be more because of Japan's use of NTSC than NTSC being the U.S. standard, right?) But shouldn't the PAL versions render at a higher resolution? I mean, native NTSC is 480i while native PAL is 576i. At...

PAL vs NTSC? What's better for SNES Emulation?

Good afternoon! I've been enjoying ZSNES for about a decade now, but I've never really been sure what roms to get. I've usually gone for (as in U.S. English) versions quite arbitrarily. As they've always seemed popular and they're NTSC which is 60hz of course which matches today's 60hz LCD computer ...
