Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

I was playing the Chrono Trigger ~ Intro Sequence(pressing together the [L] & [R] buttons on the SNES pad) had it running on both emus at the same time just [alt+tab]ing back and forth listening to the sounds... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqTZfknDVes I could SWEAR... ZSNES sounds like the ...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

I tired Chrono Trigger in SNES9x.... it sounded different.... and not really better... I had to switch to Xaudio2 on Windows XP Pro becuase of crackling so... so after that I went back to ZSNES to continue like always ;^_^; Could you elaborate? I'm curious as to how it sounded different or rather, ...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

The horse sandbag used by the boxers has been grinded into fine bone dust by now, as well. The hell kind of an analogy is that? Just passing by for my usual annual visit to check if Zsnes is still alive or not :) Also let me wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year. BTW, is pagefault still a...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

Hmm.. I'll ask if he's ever considered running Snes9x 1.53 through RetroArch on the PC. Never had any audio issues on there and I don't even have to configure the sound API or the buffer settings  Sure, the GUI takes some getting used to, but once people get used to it, it's actually very w...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

Yeah, and of course "synchronize with sound core" is enabled by default. Unfortunately, so is 9x's Directsound plugin which cracks quite a bit. I tried turning sound synch off once just to see what it sounded like and HOLY SHIT. There was so much audio crackling that it sounded like someo...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

Yeah, switching from 9x's directsound to XAudio2 solved the audio crackling problems for the most part. I keep the buffer length set at 64ms, although it's probably a good idea to lengthen it in games like SD3 that use hi-res mode. I usually don't even fuck with it because enabling hi-res mode does...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

NN is actually a really nice guy from the conversations I've had with him, but I think he's just really frustrated because he feels like he's being lied to about a new version being worked on. I'm skeptical too, but I also don't know the history of this forum or ZSNES' development like older member...

Cx4 (...) emulation is also effed up too hahahaha what the fuck are you saying it was rhetoric shut up i don't care Well, that would explain it. Now I know for sure. We kind of suspected you don't expect a new version. Who me , mocking the idea or very potential of a future release? Surely, you jest! I'll...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

ZSNES' sound emulation is pretty outdated, and comes from a time when the sound module was very poorly understood. SNES9x uses a much newer, and very comprehensive, emulation. Well, that would explain it  Now I know for sure. I sincerely hope one day Zsnes uses more modern sound emulation,...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

LLE does not mean accurate. Okay, so I was wrong and I admit I got those two confused; I'm not afraid to admit it. If not LLE, then is Snes9x's sound considered cycle-accurate? Take for instance the Lavos Scream, only this and Bsnes get it right, and they sound exactly the same. I can't tell the di...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

Ugh, I still don't see why people prefer Zsnes over Snes9x when it has a better looking GUI and LLE audio. It's like IE 6. ZSNES has the better looking GUI. And I don't think LLE means what you think it means. Oh, I'm so sorry, my mistake, I meant to say cycle-accurate audio emulation and not "...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

I used ZSNES from 98-2012 until I got this budget Win8 PC that doesn't run ZSNES well. I was attached to ZSNES too, but once I switched to 9x, I quickly got used to it(after fucking with the settings) and realized how vastly superior 9x 1.53 it is to ZSNES 1.51. It runs games at the correct(more or...

Re: List of compatible games

I think my computer could be considered kind of old but not antique. It has an 1.4GHz Mobile Celeron CPU and 512MB RAM and some kind of INTEL onboard graphic chip. ZSNES and KEGA FUSION run absolutely perfect on it. SNES9X and GENS do work but there is some slight choppiness that bothers me. I beli...

Re: Hello can someone please help me with a FPS issue?

Yep, take Gonzo's advice if you're using Win8. The only FS setting that runs at 60fps for me is 640x480 DR F. I've tried pretty much every other FS configuration and I always get massive slowdown, or, at best, ~30fps like you get. If 640x480 DR F doesn't run at 60fps, I don't know what to tell you....

it's been seven f***ing years since the last progress update (btw, progress update != asking for a new release) surely you mean seven fucking days , lel the only update you care about is "click here to download", anyway. would be a waste of time. I won't even try denying that in the least...
