Re: D3D/OpenGL shader thread. Reborn.

Thanks Squarepusher. Very good read. Do you think we can also expect to see sound interpolation in the PS3 version of VBA?

This version also fix that resolution problem I told you before. Thanks. I have just one more request: if you select a small resolution through this window... http://vba-m.ngemu.com/personalfiles/proof.JPG You get a normal Select ROM window, instead of the compact one (the same you get when selectin...

Well, just select Maximum (Fullscreen) Scale to 1 - switch between Directdraw and Direct3D and you will see.

mudlord, I'm sure the videocard that you are using support at least 320x240. So, you can reproduce this problem. See if you can select 320x240 from this screen (when using Directdraw) - and not from the window with pre-defined resolutions. Yes, I can. I can select resolutions from 320x240, right up...

You guys are getting all wrong. I'm not exactly using the ArcadeVGA, but a software that change videocard drivers to support 15KHz. It's called Soft-15KHz. It makes any regular videocard work like ArcadeVGA, but that's totally irrelevant for what I'm trying to explain. There is absolutely no need to...

If I select Directdraw, I cant use resolutions below 640x480. (unlike Direct3D, that shows all available video modes).

I was about to ask for a option to turn off the stretching in fullscreen mode. But it looks like if you use a resolution above 640x480 (like me), and select "Keep aspect ratio" , "Only scale by integer factor" and "Video filter: None" - the result is the same. Could you...

Thanks for the joystick support.

The only problem is the lack of joystick POV hat support.

Maybe an option to select the display device, like Visual Boy Advance and Nestopia have.

Congratulations. Top Notch work. I'm also only waiting the joypad support to start to play it more seriously. Just one problem... I'm using a television as a second screen to my PC, but even considering I'm using it as the primary display monitor, sometimes, when I switch to fullscreen, the emulator...

384x224 = 12:7 ratio.. that's not exactly close to 4:3 Oh god...and I'm the one guessing out of my ass. 384x224 is only the game resolution. It doesnt necessary means that the aspect ratio of the target display (arcade monitor) need to be the same. That's why you're supposed to use Stretch.. to at ...

More likely than not, there IS a difference between Arcade monitors and TVs and that when you take them into consideration.. you shouldn't expect that the SNES was developed for an Arcade monitor and vice versa... No. In this case, it doesnt matter... Arcade monitors are 4:3 display devices, like a...

I guess the situation was worse with NES games... : P

But its really odd that even with big games, like Super Metroid, Nintendo let Samus Morph Ball looks more like an oval ball. Its a really ugly effect.

I'm using Snes9x 1.5 (without any stretching or aspect ratio correction - just the picture as it is). I use a image utility called Polyview. I take a picture from Snes9x. Then I resize it to 320x240 (without the option to retain aspect ratio). I guess this is exactly how SNES works. You have a 256x2...

I am very surprised that most snes games are not designed with 256x240 in mind. Its just crazy. This is how the game is... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/vigi_lante/Castlevania-DraculaXU000.png This is how it looks like on my TV (using 256x240 - Snes9x) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253...

On the SNES, pixels aren't exactly square, they're rectangular, vertically squished. This is because of analogue stretching the SNES does on the TV They are not square for a reason: since the target display is a 4:3 TV, developers made pixels out of proportions on purpose, that would look right whe...

Question about R modes...

I thought R modes was about keeping an 1:1 ratio. For example, if I use 640x480, it will show the unstreched snes display centered inside the screen (a little square box in the middle, since the game will be displayed at 256x224 on a 640x480 screen resolution). But its obviously not what happens, si...

Oh, well...first let me say that I'm trying to use ZSNES, on a 4:3 TV, with 256x240 (that's supported by my video card). This "Keep 4:3 Ratio" dont solve the problem. The picture looks like its vertically stretched. I can see the difference if I compare with SNES9x. Maybe the aspect ratio ...

About custom resolutions, fullscreen and stretch...

Is there any reason why ZSNES always stretch the picture when using a custom resolution in fullscreen (or anyother predefined resolution) ?

It's not possible to just use fullscreen, without stretch ?

Thanks.

You do realize that this is for DOS.. and not Windows right?´ Yes. I know. Are those even valid VESA2 resolutions? I thought the minimum res was 320x200 for a VESA2 mode... I guess you are right. But it's odd, since I can use Vesa 256x240 (Linear) on Nesticle (and I'm sure it's Vesa, not ModeX). So...

As I said in an earlier thread on this same topic, I would like to have certain additions to the DOS video modes. I think it's only fair to have SNES-resolution option(s) for both VESA2 and MODEX (MODEX happens to be fastest for me): 256x224x8B MODEX 256x224x8B VESA2 256x224x16B VESA2 I don't think...
