SNES Emulators

ZSNES has not been updated for over a decade, and I assume most people have moved on. However, if you are unaware, there have been many advancements in SNES emulation over the years, and highly accurate representations of the hardware exist in both software and FPGA form. This is not to disparage ZS...

I'm checking in for the first time in over a year.

I do miss message boards, but who has the time to maintain one?

Re: ZSNES is no longer in active development.

Rumours abound that zsnes will return to active development.

Such thing has also brought about my return.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

Nothing is stopping anyone from forking zsnes. Some people have done that with SNES9x. These recent "official" releases of SNES9x are actually not official, but none of the original authors have said no to them.

Re: zsnes on android

Zsnes uses X86 assembly, while Android smartphones use ARM processors, so it isn't possible right now.

Re: Chrono Trigger Save Mayhem

Sounds like you have it set up to automatically load the save state? Maybe the save state file is set to be read-only, which would explain why you can't overwrite it (and maybe why your SRAM saves are also not working). Check your files.

Re: Super Mario RPG freezing

If you really must play Super Mario RPG, it is probably best to pony up for a real cart or the Virtual Console release, because no emulator has perfect SA-1 emulation. It even has problems on bsnes? I'm sure it is better, but still not perfect. Getting a Wii/Wii U and getting the virtual console re...

Re: Acurious issue with all SD Gundam Generation games

I'm pretty sure those are all Sufami Turbo games, it is entirely possible that zsnes does not emulate it.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

I have both an Everdrive an a SD2SNES. If you can afford it, the SD2SNES has a huge advantage in that it has instantaneous loading of games. With an Everdrive, you have to wait a few seconds for the games to load (with a 32 Mb game, it can be up to a minute). If you are just loading up small test pr...

As far as I can tell, the only ad script being run on the front page is from Google. But yes, this does look like it was manually added somehow.

Pagefault says that the 64 bit compilation problem will be resolved in the next release. If you can wait, it should be out in a few days.

Pretty sure that many people have played through FFVI fine on zsnes. There must be something wrong with your configuration. We need more information, like which ROM image you are using.

You are going to need to give us more information. Which operating system are you on, for instance?

Also, keep in mind that the sound emulation in 1.51 is not perfect.

Re: How do you auto load games on start?

You haven't told us what operating system you are using.

I would guess the easiest way if you are using Windows is to associate ".sfc" files (or whatever file extension your files are) with zsnes. Then if you double click on it, it should run the game automatically.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

The Super Everdrive is about half the price of the SD2SNES, and works quite well. The only negative is that larger games take 20-30 seconds to load, and it doesn't have DSPx and CX4 support.

Re: Kirby's Dreamland 3, Help?

I imagine these problems are related to incomplete SA-1 emulation. Unfortunately, the only way to deal with this problem is either to wait for Zsnes 2.0, or use a more accurate emulator (like Higan).
