I'm actually kind of amazed at how often it has to serve its purpose (the filter).

Yeah, let it be known that it is not just Squaresoft that does this. Sound is easily the biggest bug left in zsnes, and if solved would fix issues for hundreds of games all at once.

Yep, that's the important thing. I just think some people might find it odd for that particular setting to have the default as uppercase and not the other way around. It seems like the majority would prefer lowercase.

True, but 3-4 letter lower case extensions have become the unspoken standard for some reason. Probably because many extensions aren't acronyms, and even a lot that are get cut down, like MPEG to MPG, which makes it sort of a bastard acronym. That, plus the fact that Exe looks really obnoxious coming...

The apr 04 wip, but it happens in older versions, too. I don't know if it's always been around, but I suspect they're pretty old bugs. EDIT: Ok, I just spent the last 20 minutes tracking down where the first bug first shows up. It appears in the 11/01/2003 Pre 1.40 WIP, after 10/28/03. 11/01/03 Bett...

Couple of wierd bugs to report in Final Fight (J). Capcom intro has a bunch of garbage in it when the rom loads. Only happens to Final Fight (J), but not the (U) or (E) versions. http://home.mchsi.com/~s.daystrom/ffj.png Also, on the title screen, you'll see that the copyright text at the bottom get...

As taken from IRC: <pagefault> ok code is backported <pagefault> and I am no longer hitting trees <pagefault> so as you can see my CPU core needs more work <pagefault> this game sucks though Nach <pagefault> it needs a gun on the hood <Nach> y...

Forgive my ignorance, but could someone explain it to me why all those interpolation/lowpass options are there? I mean, shouldn't zsnes just do what sounds most like the snes and leave it at that? If the other modes actually improved the sound I might understand them as features, but they just sound...

Re: not a scam what are you talking about explain yourself

Can I ask what dodgy means? And its not a scam. Didnt you read the auction? You make money with it, everyone does who participated. It is 100% legal and it involves you putting others on your mailing list who pay you and request it. Try it out, you'll see that it does work, you just need to adverti...

That's been in every release of Snes9X from v1.42 on forward. IIRC, here's what the colours mean: White: Clecksum OK, ROM should boot with no problem. Yellow: Bad checksum, could be under/overdumped, hacked, translated, PD, or just a bad ROM. Cyan: Mode 2 interleave Red: definate hack, download NSR...

little question: what means "interleaved"? See what I mean. People who don't know look at interleaved: yes and see no implication that that is what's screwing things up. To them, "interleaved: yes" is to "interleaved: no" as "hirom" is to "lorom." T...

I don't think zsnes should have to be responsible for fixing other people's mistakes. Perfectly good roms exist out there, as do perfectly good utilities to verify and fix them. Being an average Joe might be a good enough excuse if it weren't for the fact that documentation and stickies have been pu...

I don't care what the GUI looks like. I care about how easy it is for the programmers to modify it, and if a standard windows GUI will improve that, then that's what it should be some day.

IIRC, snes9x doesn't even render the map grass correctly, so I wouldn't be too quick to assume that what it's doing is right. I'd look at the actual cart, or perhaps super sleuth.

I think the better question is: after all these years, why do they still get distributed in this way?

And the answer is: people suck.

You know, I almost want flatley to fix it at this point. He comes close to sounding knowledgeable. And then for the thread to turn on its head would give it some entertainment value. Alas, wishing for something does not make it so.
