Re: Unofficial r3gged sci tech display d0ctor seri4l numbah?

You guys active elsewhere these days? I follow Ghiddeon Zhi on twitter, but haven't been able to find anyone else from this board elsewhere. Probably because names like "Adventures_of_Link" are hyper generic lol.

Re: Buttholes are weird.

The girl I lost my virginity to, right after we had sex for the first time in highschool, asked me if I'd ever looked at my butthole in a mirror before.

She was a keeper.

Yo duders just leaking Sonic Xtreme here...

well, actually there... on sonic retro. Me and a few guys got our hands on the source code for Sonic Xtreme and are building it for release. We have about a year's worth of development archived in various states of completion, from Ofer Alon's original PC engine that only runs on a windows PC with a...

Re: not to brag and all...

I've been playing virtually everything I can, including fighting games. The controllers are awesome. You get the functionality of a mouse with the form of a controller. Navigating the internet on the thing is especially satisfying. If you launch firefox through steam, you can even reconfigure the s...

Re: not to brag and all...

Nice. I know you've mentioned them before, but what are some of the projects you're working on? The posts you made earlier about your projects are buried DEEP within your VR thread.(that I derailed) Sorry about that dude; I promise not to derail your gay little bragging thread :P I'm currently a pa...

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

So in layman's terms, the dream is to have the Rift(or other VR headsets) read your body's motions perfectly with nearly zero input lag instead of having to use weird gestures to make things happen on screen? I'm totally out of my element talking about this, but in order to fully utilize VR's poten...

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

How does the Rift's refresh rate work(2 rates, 1 for each eye?), and what's its native refresh rate? VR@120fps+ would probably blow my mind. I forgot the name of the tech some newer LCD monitors use to prevent motion blur, but I'm curious how well it works. CRTs are still king in that regard. My 10...

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

software support on linux is about as good as it is on windows right now, because mainly everybody who is doing VR stuff is an indie going through valve.

And, FWIW, valve has a lot of VR stuff in linux already. it'll likely pick up steam (no pun intended) once SteamOS releases.

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

well I actually had a trip party with a few buds and we all dropped acid specifically to try out the rift. You're correct, it was intense and pretty indescribable, and really, really funny. Eventually, when we peaked, we kinda stopped and just... you know, tripped. Mainly because we were too fucked ...

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

If you're looking for ways for the rift to fuck with your brain, there a bunch of vertigo simulators that people have built. The one by valve themselves is particularly entertaining, as you're supposed to build a platform IRL to go with it. basically a plank between two steps a few inches off the gr...

Video is private. I assume its the video of the guy who hooked his dick up to a novint falcon? If so, crude and dangerous, not at all like my dual belt sander method.

Re: So how about that there VIRTUAL REALITY stuff huh?

Mirror's edge isn't that great in VR, none of those injection driver VR games are. Mirror's edge does too many things with the camera that makes your stomach turn. I'm not talking about inducing vertigo (although it does that too, which is really awesome), but rather the number of times it'll yank m...

it exists and stuff. I tried out the SNES emulator on my rift the other day and it was so redundant and awesome at the same time. It simulates the experience of being in front of a large CRT tv with an SNES controller in your hands. And there's like, VR porno already and also half life 2. Exciting s...

Re: Version for 486 100?

Wing Commander was also tied to processor speed, playing the original on anything past a 486 would yield unplayable results.

Re: Version for 486 100?

Still, they couldn't do raw clock speed, since they couldn't know what clock speed they'd be on. I suppose the speed controls could have bracketed a range of acceptable clock speeds, but... it would be dumb. There weren't exactly a wide range of clockspeeds available in those days. You typically ha...

Re: Version for 486 100?

I thought the clockspeed-dependent shit had mostly died when the PC-AT and the idea of a standard IBM PC, did? The practice might have started to decline, but it definitely persisted until well into the pentium era. Try running Jazz Jackrabbit on a 200 mhz pentium, for example. It'll run far too fa...
