Tis okay, I'm in no rush. I've been tinkering with Tomato Adventure this past week, and lord knows I have plenty of other projects to keep my occupied until I'm 80 as it is. I'd like FEoEZ to be done slowly and surely, like a relaxing walk through a park compared to the mad dash across a giant, busy...

With Mother 3 *mostly* out of the way now, I could probably start to do stuff with FEoEZ, but I imagine byuu's busy with his 5000 projects too. We both have project-itis.

You can still do it for v1.1 or whatever whenever it comes out ;)

I actually haven't put your new patcher version up either, so we could do it now if you wanted. I think some of the data at the end is actually used though.

You're free to hack it yourself, but note that you'll also have to hack the full-screen title animation after the prologue, the text right after the naming screen, AND the ending screen.

Tomato, did you work on the translation side of the dub, by any chance?
I pretty much just do the sub translation and timing, and that's passed on to the dub writers to mess with.

Not sure if you're referring to legal or not-so-legal subs, but if it's the former, I've been hard at work these past few months on a bunch more 8)

OK, cool, sounds good to me. My only worry then is that since there aren't prominent links to where to download the latest compiled version right away, most people will be like, "Huh?" and go somewhere else. I can try to direct people to the right place, but I dunno how effective that'll b...

Say, in a couple weeks, when the Mother 3 translation is released, I'd like to recommend VBA-M to everyone, but how would you guys prefer I do this? Should I link directly to the vbacompiles directory, would you prefer to have a page for it that I link to, or should I just post the latest version on...

Thanks :) When I look back at my old stuff I'm actually not very happy with it, but I think this'll turn out much better now that I have years of pro experience under my belt. As for EarthBound, it's probably not for everyone, and it's kind of almost too hyped-up nowadays. Even so, I recommend it if...

I translated Star Ocean and Bahamut Lagoon with DeJap. Cidolfas helped with Star Ocean stuff too, as an editor and advice and clerical guy. Dark Force was the hacker and really the only guy in DeJap.

I think ToP was translated by ChessPieceFace or someone by a name like that.

Oh and btw tomato thanks for the kickass Tales of Phantasia translation and Star Ocean translation. I enjoyed both of those games. A fantastic job well done. Actually, I didn't work on ToP at all, it was before my time. I barely remember working on Star Ocean, seems like so long ago too. I feel so ...

Just wanted to drop in and say you guys kick ass for all your hard work here. All the extra features/fixes/enhancements have made it a lot nicer to work on that dastardly Mother 3 stuff. I do have one tiny question, and I suck when it comes to this open source kind of stuff, so forgive me if it's al...

The crosses were removed not because of religious stuff, but because the Red Cross organization doesn't like it when people use their symbol incorrectly, especially in games. Most of the religious stuff in EB was just vague-ified, so that things like "goddess" became "priestess",...

From what I barely can remember from the last time I played it, I think the scroll/spell names are all stored as graphics, and there might be a good number of those. I bet there's a whole bunch of stuff I've forgotten though.

I dunno the status of it, but it's a game that I"ve always wanted to translate, it's got this really humorous vibe that I'd like to try my hand at :) But I haven't heard anything in years. I wonder if the graphic pack stuff has anything to do with it.

Re: Star Ocean Translation Project-Related Questions

My main question is, why hasn't anyone else finished the job? Are there difficult technical issues associated with the remaining minutiae? Are there political reasons, thus nobody else has the knowledge or tools to do it without starting from scratch? Or is there just a lack of interest in the job?...

This is probably pointless, but... (Star Ocean related)

I've been out of contact with Dark Force for years, and Cidolfas and others for nearly as long, but recently on GameFAQs someone mentioned that there was an untranslated string when you do some/a certain(?) type of item creation. I haven't tried it myself, but the guy was cool enough to provide a sc...

Wow, haven't been around here in a while.

Anyway, main reason we put that on there was actually because we were really worried people would pirate the translation/sell it for money in other parts of the world, so DF suggested this so that people would at least know it was freely available.
