It must've been the encoder settings I was using with ZSNES cause the output from Kega looked exactly like I was playing the game live.

Have any of you tried Kega with the encoder he uses? I wish ZSNES had something like that :(

Given the hell rewriting things have been, in retrospect would things be easier writing the new version of ZSNES from scratch?

Its not really the UI design itself that bothers me, its the text/edges being all blocky. If it would at least look like it was rendered at your monitor's resolution, it would make it look alot better.

Its pretty sad some of us would enjoy reading up on actual ZSNES progress and the only thing we get is an April Fools joke. I wish devs would post updates on how things are coming along from time to time. Its interesting to read about the progress being made.

Thanks for everyone's input. Sync Video seems to have helped but I hadn't been experiencing tearing before, just that the scrolling would jerk every so many seconds. FWIW Ootake had the same issue when it went to 2.00. I reported it and he fixed it in the next version so I'm not sure what the probl...

Custom resolutions possible in the future?

Forgive me if this can already be done, but I didn't see it available in the .40 options. Would it be possible to add user definable resolution settings in a future release of BSNES? My LCD has a native res of 1280x1024 and BSNES looks pretty muddy as it is now. Also, I think there is a vsync confli...

He wrote the initial implementation for ZSNES, a few years back.
Ah, ok. Thought he was back

ZSNES will have a more "stardard" looking GUI in the future, although the GUI we have now isn't going to get replaced. There have been some discussion whether or not code an option to switch between GUI styles or simply maintain two different builds. If I'm not mistaken, Qt or similar has...

They could've at least increased the clock speed of the crappy CPU inside the snes. I can't believe they didn't foresee it as being a huge bottleneck to overall system performance.

I don't program byuu so I can't speak to the internal workings of the 68000, but my Genesis had 16-bit wrote on the top of the system and I read several different magazine articles referring to the Genesis CPU as 16-bit back in the day. If it was a 32-bit system, I would think that Sega would've jum...

Genesis resolution was 320x224 vs. SNES resolution of 512x448. The higher res plus the higher maximum colors on screen made SNES games look a whole lot better. The Genesis was so much better at pushing sprites though. Thunderforce III for the Genesis just wowed me throughout the whole game while I w...

You're comparing two totally different things. The Genesis has a vastly superior processor. 32-bit, ~10MHz Motorola 680x0. The SNES had an inferior 16-bit, ~2.68MHz WDC 65c816. Not even the SA-1 was an equal to the Genesis 68k, and the SuperFX2 was too specialized for general purpose computing to b...

Wouldn't it be simpler to just configure it that way from the start? From a support perspective, it would seem like the way to go. The user would only need to select the encoder type from within Zsnes and if it not there, they get an error telling them the selected encoder isn't installed on the hos...

Thanks for the help :)

All this would be much simpler though if zsnes was configured to use whatever encoder the user has installed on the OS. Nestopia's current method works pretty well. Perhaps this will change in time.

Welcome to page 19. To record a video you need one of the latest work in progress builds of ZSNES. Get them here: http://zsnes.ipherswipsite.com/ You will need a copy of mencoder. For Windows users, I recommend getting mencoder here: http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php Place mencoder.exe in the ...

Using XP here, no need for either DOS or 9x support. They're both outdated and need to be put to rest. How about replacing the DOS port with a Win32 port like baseline MAME? That way if people hate the current GUI, someone can code a good FE :)
