Ok the bug is still there...sort of. I tried switching to the old graphics engine and it went away, as someone else mentioned happening before. I guess that means it's hardware-related, as I have a new PC from when I first post this up. At present, I have: AMD Socket AM2 Motherboard Athlon 4200+ Dua...

Hey wait a minute lol... You did move this to the verified bugs section... Why did I wake the Necromancer if the reason I bumped it was valid? Oh well :-P. Anyway, I'm actually playing through it again now, and I'm after the Hall and before the Pyramid, so I'll re-verify if the bug is there and keep...

Sorry about that. I honestly did a search yesterday and I did not see anything with "Announcement" in front of it. Maybe I was just tired. In any case, I wasn't complaining.

At the extreme risk of awaking the thread Necromancer, I'm bumping this...but I think it's for a good reason... To the admins... I notice there's a verified bug section. I've looked through it, and I don't see this thread in there. Just wondering if it was missed or something. I'm not much of a code...

Update for Square Sound Rape

I've just been wondering what occurred or what progress (if any) was made with the sound chip emulation/Square sound rape issue. I remember Pagefault mentioning in a thread in 2005 somewhere that he was going to try to address this. Certainly no small task, and no complaints if it didn't go anywhere...

Ack! Yes, I have those as well...I have everyplace in the game, I even was nerd enough to draw the outside shots of most of them :-P... But yes, my first copy of the Ratpor Nests was 4 pieces of paper taped so I could do all the damned twists and turns.

Hehe cartography was always my strong point. The woods, I think it was just follow that stupid owl... But I do still have maps I made from Jurassic Park, to scale, with all the dinosaurs and items marked, by eye no less :-P. I also drew a grid of 3:4 boxes on paper and photocopied it, used a hilight...

Ok I can get some of these out of the way... Yes, initially when I saw the bug, it was using the latest WIP build...that's what I was using before I tested it on 1.40. I did not try switching off background layers, as I figured if I have to play with one off, there's still a bug, but if it will help...

Secret of Evermore graphics issue

Ok, I'm a bit confused on what's already known about and what's not... I looked through all the threads searching for "evermore" and I found another mention of a graphics bug (different one), and someone on there said it was mentioned before...yet I found no other threads of the sort...so ...

Ok, I've got the kosher drivers installed...and I'm fine with it. The processor curiosity in windowed mode is still there...and is just plain cause for curiosity, but that slight tearing issue seems to be gone now, which is what got me nosing around for problems in the first place 8) . However, even...

Dodgy video drivers...that is a possibility, I'm using the ones from guru3d.com...mainly because for some reason unbeknownst to me, after I formatted and tried to install the regular ATI drivers, it didn't want to install. I'll try to get that issue sorted. When I get around to that, I'll try to pos...

Ok, I have AVG Anti-Virus control center, but I don't think that's as much of a system resource hog as Norton. Just AOL as a messenger, yes, the ATI bit, acrobat assistant, something to do with my sound card as well, a center for my Lexmark all-in-one printer... But really nothing that would do this...

Well I was, but nothing of consequence. Without the emulator on, the processor never goes above 5 or 10%...even so, to be sure, I checked with them closed...it still is weird. With the GUI up, it hovers around 90%, and with Chrono Trigger running, I noticed the usage follows a very distinct pattern....

Yeah now if the PC would just follow suit 8) . All I can add is it's not just a matter of the cross design. I had one PC controller, one of those airflow things...big mistake haha...but it had a cross design, but still had the same problem, because the contacts were still too easily pressed simultan...

Yeah I agree, I'll probably go with the USB converter. I do think it is somewhat of a "modernization" thing though... Like has been said, you could throw the boomerang diagonally in the Legend of Zelda (though it wasn't much fun)...but you couldn't walk diagonally. The majority of the nece...

Thoughts on the Square sound carnage

I see the "Square sound rape" has been mentioned before. I've been playing through Chrono Trigger with the November 9th WIP, and noticed something... The "monster scream" sound in that game is a well-known example of the issue. In Truce Canyon, 600 AD, if you fight the little gre...

No I'm not using an analog stick...I mean there is one that would attempt to do the same job, but yea, of course I'm using the D-pad. I'm just saying the modern D-pads seem to be sort of a hybrid between the analog stick and the old kind of D-pads, in that they "roll" too easily. That's go...

I am using what I believe is the latest WIP (November 9th)...1.43 whatever it is... Sorry, I forgot to put that in my original post... I thought that looping issue was solved a while ago though..? Well either way, I'm still confused hehe.

Greedy for CPU power

Okey dokey... First off, I'm running Windows XP (SP2) on an Athlon 2600+ (2.08 GHz), 1.5 GB of RAM (Not to mention my spare 20 GB drive having a 4 GB page file dedicated to it...wish I could make it bigger...), the drives are on separate cables, Radeon 9550 (256 MB), and I'm using the modest Super 2...

Yeah I know it's not ZSNES, that was the point...a question of controller choice. I've noticed a lot of people seem to like the Dual Action or Sidewinders...and yeah, they're nice gamepads, but their analog sensitivity interferes with some games. They're "too good" to be accurate replaceme...

Ah..blah, yes, I didn't think of that  . And yeah, that is why I didn't... I do use a gamepad, so I wasn't thinking about focus since I don't use it for other things concurrently, obviously. Too bad the interrupt principle won't work here... Oh well, maybe some other operating system 8)

A question of diagonals...

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this... I've had Sidewinders before, and I have the highly praised Dual Action Logitech now. They have the "round" D-pad design which makes rolling from an axis direction to a diagonal a seamless and thumb-friendly process...great...but not great...
