It works in SNES9x, bsnes and SNESGT.

The other characters in #4 could be lined up too, which would be like using a variable-width font in a ROM hack.

Just a matter of preference.

In the first one, the "Y" is aligned like the other characters. In the second one (best version imo) it's shifted to the right by one pixel.

The font's grid makes it difficult to draw a straight "Y", but at least the first version should be close enough.

Maybe someone can make it a bit wider.

Try searching for the name of the ROM file (without any extension).

Guest Additions are included with VirtualBox. Boot the virtual WinXP, then in VirtualBox mount the file "VBoxGuestAdditions.iso" that is in VirtualBox's directory. That should start the process if you have Autorun enabled.

VirtualBox, it has support for hardware virtualization and 3D acceleration (link).

Win7 has a virtual machine ("XP mode") via Virtual PC, but I don't know about its features.

15000 Hz / 30 Hz = 500 lines

So it'd be ok for SNES resolutions.

There were quite a few games using protected mode (via DOS4/G and other DOS extenders).
