There is an option to navigate the GUI with a joypad. Look under MISC/GUI OPTIONS. Perhaps this will help you.

My guess is he is passing some cart off as the real deal, but how can he claim to have it run on a PAL Snes, even if it is a patched ROM? I am aware that there is a German translation, but can you just stick a NTSC ROM into a PAL cart and have it running perfectly?
