So how is it all the stand alone tile editors are able to do it? There must be a way... As the guys here have tried to explain to you, your not quite grasping what's going on. You're missing the link that what is showing on the screen is not coming from the ROM. It's coming from VRAM. The data in V...

This is SNES ROMs we're talking about. Has anyone in the history of SNES emulation written a malware SNES ROM disguised well enough as a real ROM by today's standards? I don't know of any myself. I laugh at the idea of people breaking MD5 sums, finding enough data to change in an SNES ROM to not obv...

Alright, well clearly your methods and process for coming up with standards that could affect everyone differ from mine. I'd see what the people it affects most have to say, hear potential alternative ideas, and take a more informed path to balance the interests of all parties affected. Working from...

If LoROM and HiROM can properly map 99% of games now, then we'd only need to distribute two templates. Any ROM hacker can figure out what their game is. Further, we can fork the current emulator mapper detection to an external utility that generates these PCB files automatically. Yes, but is requir...

Why not have a central database (perhaps even this is in a single file that could be user edited if desired) for the known commercial PCBs and use the external pcb text file for any 'new' boards created for hacks or translations? A system where the external text file will both be defaulted to if it...

The alternative is leaving a broken format around eternally. Do you want people trying to figure out how to add or remove headers to ROMs forever? No, but UPS hasn't addressed this either. All UPS does is refuse to patch if you got it wrong. People will still be figuring out how to add or remove he...

The way you guys have been talking both here and other topics related seemed to be in the direction of kind of jamming your ideals down the user's throat as the only option. For the sake of discussion, I was also suggesting removing IPS support. Possibly offering auto-conversion to UPS. Nightcrawle...

I don't like this, it's just adding another layer of complexity. Instead of reading from the database directly and pointing to the proper board within the emulator, you're creating (potentially) thousands of redundant external files from the database. And instead of packaging the db with the emulat...

I think our strengths would compliment the others potential weaknesses well. I would like to read the end of your post, if that's possible. Don't know what happened there. I had gone on a few more sentences on Nach's knowledge and experience with efficiency, design patterns, and algorithms. Kind of...

I mean, NC, grin, nach, etc, how long have you guys been coding? How long did it take you to really begin mastering it? I got started in programming on a Tandy Color Computer 2 using BASIC. You couldn't do much with those computers without programming something. I was probably around 10 years old. ...

You'd better start with C right off the bat, geeze. If you don't like it now I'm not seeing anything months of C# could do. A programming language is more than just the underlying syntax. If your algo-building skills/patterns don't fit the various elements of the language you won't use it efficient...

Fixed. Nothing against anyone of course.
Except there are plenty of people who make a lot of money on the Internet. If money=success, then the Internet can be useful.

I enjoyed Radical Dreamers.
I commend him for being successful with an iPhone game.
He's still been an ass every time I've communicated with him in 10+ years.

A lesson can be learned as well. To be successful, you need to quit ROMhacking and go do something that can make some money.

I'll sum up my thoughts: 1. I will never understand why their is such strong opposition to civil rights. Who does it hurt to allow gays to marry for example? I agree. If you're going to take the time to do it, it makes sense to do it in a schematic entry program for a variety of reasons such as the one you mentioned amongst others. OrCAD and Protel are ridiculously priced, even for small businesses, let alone the hobbyist. Our penny pinching company was ...

I don't have my domains through them. All my domains are through Namecheap . Namecheap used to be through Enom, but I believe they got their own ICANN accreditation last year. If you're on a budget, I've found no one else in the past few years that can match price with what Slhost offers. Note, to get their best deal, you need to pay semi-annually (see the pricing specials at the bottom). You can get it down to the equivalent of only about $22/month for a Level 1 VPS if y...

I found this hack to be pretty poor in the gameplay department. It's ridiculously difficult as well. I quit after beating the first level with savestates. It's not fun in the least bit.
