Re: Video Card Upgrade Advice
He did say he switched off the power outlet. I imagine its fine if the power outlet is off. Not sure if that switches off the earth ground though.

Re: Video Card Upgrade Advice
I always find it better to keep the computer plugged in, but the switch turned off. The case remains earth grounded in that case, and if there's any exposed metal, you can hold on to it and generally be safe touching stuff.

Re: List of compatible games
You can probably find P4/low end C2D machines for like $50, probably even later ones if you look around. But I guess if you're going for that sub-$5 market, then I guess you're stuck with zsnes. :p

Yeah, some games are much better designed than others.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
The ROM is really 4096KB + 512 byte copier header so 4096.5KB rounded up to 4097KB. Just something to make note of with SNES ROMs is they may or may not have a copier header, which is pretty much vestigial on modern emulators and wasn't part of the original cartridge.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
The reason s-video looks better is that in composite video the luminance signal's bandwidth overlaps the chroma signal's frequency. That's why you see colorful blobs at intensity transitions. That fast transition contains high frequency components that interfere with the chroma signal. Modern comb f...

I don't think the carts were ever CD size. They'd say stuff like "800meg" but that's megabit. I don't know if any got to a gigabit or any higher than that. There was the ngcd though, but I don't know how big those images actually were.

The high detail backgrounds will look bad with any of those sorts of filters.

I said "like 2". :p I know it's some very small value. Not to say it's a completely useless mode, but it's not really what should be used to determine system requirements.

Re: Full Screen Choppy
Accuracy mode only affects some visual effects in like 2 games. Compatibility core should still be reliable for emulation stability and be like a few times faster.

Re: saves dissapearing
You load the game first, then SRAM saves should load automatically, and saved states are loaded with F4 with the game already running.

Re: .CHT will not auto load if ZSNES is started via a Fronte
Probably not setting up the working directory correctly. See if your frontend has that option or create a batch file that changes to zsnes's directory then launches zsnes passing the environment through.

There is a chance, but it'd be pretty far out there. There's more efficient ways to infect a computer than SNES ROMs.

Re: Zsnes to work with windows Media Centre (Windows 7)
Use TV out (VGA/dvi/HDMI/component or composite/s-video as a last resort) to your TV. You might need to screw with resolutions and possibly refresh rates if your TV is picky (native is best), and might need to mess with TV settings to get the best unfiltered, low latency display. TV out has a lot of...

Re: Crono Trigger- The Time Egg
I wouldn't even say making a spiritual sequel although time travel does offer the possibility of having a huge variety of locales, but that doesn't require it to be a chrono series game. Just a game that takes some of the technical/artistic stuff that people like about Chrono Trigger and making a wh...

Re: Crono Trigger- The Time Egg
I'd say not doing a sequel or another game in the chrono series, but a game with the REALLY well done locations and gameplay would be good. No RPG I've played has better settings overall than that game both in being interesting and looking good visually/artistically. And the battle taking place with...

On what game dont they work? If it's the chrono trigger L+R+A thing, you might need to set a key combo if your keyboard doesn't allow too many keys pressed.

Re: How to make the speed multiplayer fractional?
If your monitor supports frame rates over 60, there is I believe a trick that involves turning the auto frame skip off and turning vsync on, and zsnes is then synced to display refresh. Sound will probably be ass though. I might have missed something.

I'll probably get this next upgrade if the screen is any good. OLED screens have potential (vita has a nice screen) but a lot of phones with OLED screens look kind of bad, like note 2 and the old droid incredible.

I think -sws 3 -vf scale=1024,896 Not 100% what software scaler mode is nearest but you can look up the mencoder man page. Although the one zsnes requires is like a million years old so I have no idea. Also might want to check out -ovc and maybe lavcopts. Again, I have no idea what that ancient menc...
