Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

We've been over this too many times already... Even if we ever make some sort of API that lets people do it, only the simple games, with always graphics statically loaded from the ROM, could ever be done at the price of days of RE work to pinpoint each tile group to swap with their HD counterparts. ...

Re: ZSNES ExHirom support and music issues for other emulato

The current ZSNES release uses dark magics and various tricks to do its thing. It's not a good reference, especially regarding music (which leads to some unfortunate decisions, creating hacks that cannot run anywhere else). There are several sound glitches that anyone can notice when comparing to re...

Iirc, nothing you can do about it. Iiarc, Return of the Jedi has the same issues. Old sound core not up to scratch.

Re: Mishira Stream issues?

Probably because your streaming program is expecting it to work nicely with d3d.
Which it doesn't.
Also, you're wasting your time playing SMRPG in any 'recent' zsnes release. Thankfully your post let you dodge that bullet.

There you go. You're soft-scaling (no ddraw7 hardware acceleration in win8) by a non-integer, non-negligeable factor (around 4.8). Don't expect any sort of performance whatsoever.

Fix: use another emu that win8 caters to.

Grab a precompiled package, old source has too many issues for a clean compile on modern machines.

Don't count on that. There's a reason we restarted from scratch.

Re: Compiling under windos

Advice #1: go with snes9x. Our public source tree is overstale. There's a cheese castle on top of it.

Advice #2: grab their latest source, and read the readmes. All of them. They should tell you what you need.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development

There will always be some cases where a coder could squeeze some MMX code to process bigger chunks, but equivalently good C code just won't lay it out the same.
In return, compilers use their own voodoo that outmatches readable assembly in several spots. Should work out in the long run.
