Do you use the load ROM dialog, or do you load the games up from file history? Also do you have the Genesis BIOS enabled? One last thing, what's your sound settings? I'm going to try to reproduce this. P.S. Thanks for confirming the sound pops on the real hardware. ;) EDIT: Actually, got a savestate...

I might of found one earlier in regards to King's Bounty, the sound pops when you head into the Coliseum during the little dialog choices inside.

Well, let me ask you this. On Vista, does the framerate jump from 60 to 61 then down to 59 and back up again?

Well, screw the tree-view listboxes, it's the actual cheat editor on the right side of it that's appealing (I guess I should of edited that out). There's an updated edited proof-of-concept image above.

I made a mockup of it that's simple and clean looking (will edit the text for effect in a bit).

EDIT: Mockup updated to reflect SNES code.

Quick VBA mock-up: http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/2200/19073923rp6.png Awesome. Exactly how it should be. :) Another thing to eventually consider down is codes that have multiple values for a desired effect (like having a specific weapon, level, etc). Example: This Gun Modifier code for Lethal ...

Try running it with Windows Aero completely turned off and disabled and see if it still occurs. If it does, then it's probably DWM screwing with it. Another thing to try is disabling both Syncing options while on Windows Vista, since it seems Vista/Aero/DWM has issues with emulators trying to use VS...

If you're on Vista, I get that a lot there too. I think it's the OS running something in the background. This is probably due to the Windows Desktop Manager part of Windows Aero. The Sega Genesis emulators have/had the same problem (Steve Snake addressed this in Kega Fusion). If this is indeed the ...

Sometimes you'll have two or more cheat codes to cause one effect. I'd like to be able to group these codes so that you only have to toggle one of them for the effect. YES. This is one of the things I hate most, multi-codes that take up multiple lines. This would really come in handy. Byuu, I like ...

Also my favorite crappy video game "King's Bounty" still has improperly emulated music. It sounds fluttery and some notes stop abruptly. I have the physical cart version and it doesn't sound like that. I'd inform Steve Snake on Eidolon's Inn on the Kega forums there about that one to see ...

* Vista-specific code can also be disabled via another INI file option Does Vista have any new, compelling API features to use? The only one that seems neat since Win2k is the Windows 7 taskbar context menus. That's mainly for the Desktop Window Manager part of Windows Aero. He's using the DWM APIs...

Meh, I notice PJ64 likes to pop up exception errors while playing Super Smash Bros (U), especially during the VS character selection. I believe this is a known issue though.

Some ROMS are supposed to have a bad checksum to run. If you run into a red screen with auto-fix checksum enabled, it's one of those games.

Just like some games need SRAM to be disabled to run correctly (Pugsy for example).

As for me, I got wind of a possible issue that can cause a crash, so I'm going to see if I can hunt it down and reproduce it. :)

Is it just me, or in Super Mario World (U) [!] there's a one second lag for sound effects? Jump and see what happens. :P
