Re: Has anyone tried to modify ZSNES with a better sound cor
The SMW ROM hacking community has quite a bit of legacy cruft, including specific hacks but also tools that people probably still use, which depends on zsnes. And attempts to wean people off them and migrate them to doing things that actually work on a Super Nintendo just result in a lot of bitchin...

Holy crap, I didn't even know there was such a thing. Very very interesting. Are they expensive? Can you update files on it while the hardware is running?pagefault wrote:I'm using it with a wifi SD card

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
They are pretty expensive, but honestly to me this is one of those things I really feel like I got my money's worth out of, I haven't regretted it for a second. It was so great I actually bought a NES and N64 cart in addition to my SNES one (and they're not trivial expenses for me). For the N64 you ...

I'm happy with my snes powerpak but I think you can't buy it anymore, and I hear sd2snes is really good, possibly even better since it has more special chip support. There's the snes everdrive but Idunno much about that one.

Re: Disgaea is coming to PC
It's more than obvious enough for me. But some people may simply not see it, or even care. Which is of course totally OK, but it's a shame when those people end up actually doing the ports.

Re: Disgaea is coming to PC
the game is still running at higher resolutions, even the old UI graphics will look horrible. Having the original image files there doesn't do anything for the transparency issue either. And I doubt the problem will be alleviated by turning the resolution down to 640x480 (if there even is such an op...

Re: Disgaea is coming to PC
Yeah none of these PC ports of japanese consoles games interest me. It just doesn't feel right to run them as a Windows program. And they often just feel disjointed like FFVII-IX with their mismatched character/background resolutions. Having typed that I looked at the screenshots and it turns out I ...

Does anyone own Psychonauts on the original PAL Xbox?
I know for a fact this game does not do 60hz, only 50. Can anyone tell me if it handles this by 1. slowdown 2. skipping frames leading to an uneven framerate, stutter (I'd prefer slowdown over this tbqh) 3. god forbid, they actually made the game timing frame-independent and it runs smoothly at 50hz...

Re: Can the Wii U output 240p in any mode?
Haven't really tried the VC stuff myself, but I've also read about forced 480i. What is the Z+A+1 trick anyway? Load up a 240p VC title, then open the operations manual for it, and while that is open connect the nunchuk and press Z+A+1 for 240p mode, or Z+A+2 for an upscaled 480i. Or the other way ...

Can the Wii U output 240p in any mode?
I'm mostly wondering about 240p VC games in Wii mode. They look awesome on the original Wii on a CRT, but I've googled for god knows how long to find out whether they'll look the same when transferred to a Wii U hooked up to a CRT, and nobody seems to agree on it. Some people say it actually does 24...

Re: Public domain SNES ROMs?
I think it's perfectly ok, they're PD for a reason.
By demos, do you mean scene demos? Because I'm fairly sure no game demos were ever released for SNES.
Anyway, Zophar has public domain roms but I'm not sure how complete their collection is: http://www.zophar.net/pdroms.html

Re: Wii U Pro Controller question
Yeah I should've figured you did. AFAIK the WiiU simply goes into Wii mode completely whenever a Wii game is played, meaning it's for all intents and purposes a different console. Which may seem kinda silly, but then, this is the only current console with 100% perfect backward compatibility out of t...

Re: Wii U Pro Controller question
If you're talking about the Wii remote, it'd be kinda hard to map a traditional controller to that without extensively hacking and tweaking every individual game. :p
