ePSXe 1.6.0/1.7.0 FFIX issue

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

Not sure if anyone else has this issue with the (somewhat) new 1.7.0 release but though I'd mention it here. I'm currently on Disc 3 on FFIX (NTSC) and it is a legal copy of the game (which I ripped of course) and the game seems to just hang there at a cretain part. The part I'm referring to is when Kuja is in Alexandria and about to summon Bahamut to destroy the city. It's right before the FMV and after Kuja finishes talking. What happens is the screen goes blank, but doesn't seem to actually "crash" as the FPS counter is still fluctuating. I made the save on v1.7.0 and going back to 1.6.0 doesn't do jack squat. Anyone have this issue? I can provide the save that has this problem. I didn't have this issue in 1.6.0 or ealier (1.5.2).

If you've used a save state at any point, expect some oddity.

That said, port your memory card file over to pSX and see if you can play past the problem area.

If it still fails, it could very well be your image. Either an error in the file creation or from a defect in the physical disk.

it most likely is not the disc at fault, cins it works in earlier versions of the emulator.

Hmm, I'll try a memcard save on pSX...

Edit 9:41PM: Crap...couldn't make a memcard save of it, but I was wrong about the FPS; it just stays the same and doesn't fluctuate. Won't run even on 1.5.2, which was known to run FFIX very well. I'm almost convinced the save is corrupted...should I attach it for people to try? Shouldn't the ePSXe team be made aware of this issue or what?

How else will it be debugged and fixed in a timely fashion??

Does [Kevin] Smith masturbate with steel wool too?

- Yes, but don’t change the subject.

And, you couldn't create one why? This would be a key test to isolate the cause.

I found a memcard save at the end of Disc 2, which is near the last time I made a save state.

the only issues I've ever had with ePSXe and FFIX are scratched disks, you might want to check your disk. If you could rip it again or something you could continue without having to backtrack.
