It is full of shit. Lots of half-truths and quoting out of context is massive fail.

The page has rants about the Fx fanboys, but the author comes off as a fanboy himself, selectively interpreting the data to favor his preferences.

firefox is like the christianity of web browsers. assholes download firefox, and they think it's the best thing since sliced bread. so they put banners on their website saying "best viewed with firefox" even though they did not test their shitty site with any other browser, they don't need to, because the one they chose is in fact, the best web browser the world has ever seen. I once went to a website, when it loaded, a big popup covered the entire page, stating that I was using IE7 (no shit sherlock) and that the page is incompatible with my browser. so I hit refresh, then clicked stop before his shitty fanboy christianity popup emerged and guess what, the page looked fine (for being a piece of shit website that is.)

what is it about assholes that make them want to shove shit down people's throats? I don't give a shit what web browser you're using, what game console you purchased, or what car you drive. everybody's different, otherwise we'd all be using the same web browser, same video game system, and the same religion. but firefox and christian assholes think they're so wonderful that they gotta shove it down your throats. fuck off assholes.

end rant kthx

He forgot to say that Firefox was Firebird and that Firebird was Phoenix.

You think people don't get that from Opera evangelizers or IE evangelizers?

I don't like evangelizers and fanboys - they support something because it makes them feel superior, and so they feel threatened by the weaknesses in the thing they idolize.

I think there's a pretty healthy browser market right now - people can generally use whatever browser they want, and get most of what's out there on the internet.

But from a web dev perspective, I can understand the IE haters. You can make a web site that works with every browser but IE with little or no effort - making a site that works well on both is a pain, and making a site that works the SAME on both is a well paying career.

Same here, although compared to IE 6 I do notice some slowdowns every now and then... well, at least when it crashes (VERY rarely) it doesn't mess up the start menu. I hate it when that happens... maybe it's the only GOOD thing I've seen on Vista that I like... the damn thing restores itself.

"Firefox started as "Phoenix" in 2002..."

What he forgot was that it started as... I think it was Mozilla/b.

The Book of Mozilla easter egg citation is a bit silly, as that goes back a LONG time. Netscape 1.1, as it happens.
That's just the most recent incarnation of the egg(which is part of Gecko, and present in all Gecko-based browsers. Even Seamonkey, which is rather sad given the current incarnation tells us our browser is dead.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Mozilla if anyone cares what older editions said.

"Myth - "Firefox is Faster than Mozilla" - Example

Reality - Ironically Mozilla 1.8 is faster than Firefox 1.x and 2.x in 5 out of 7 measures of performance.. - Source

Notes - Considering Firefox is supposed to be the lighter, leaner version of the Mozilla suite, this is very surprising."

This one comes about from the 1.8 beta(there is no "real" Mozilla 1.8, just Seamonkey) using an older version of Gecko than the versions of Firefux it was being compared to. Comparisons of versions using the same version of Gecko are fairly close.

Heh-heh. The memory leak...
People are STILL going back and forth about that one.
Firefox PROBABLY has a memory leak. But the most visible "leak" IS the cache.

He's an Opera fanboy, if I had to guess. Certainly sick of hearing about how great Mozilla for Dummies is.

Note: I DO hate Firefox. It's inane, counterintuitive, and crappy. Mozilla was infintely superior, and Seamonkey continues the proud tradition of not sucking.

nobody cares what web browser you use, because it doesn't matter. more important matters should really be discussed, like what direction you wipe your ass.

it's like apple. nobody cares if you have an ipod or any other apple product. if you want to listen to music and purchased this device to listen to music, there's no need to put the word ipod all over your myspace and you car and shit. I got a real cool projector, it costs way more than your ipod, it's way bigger than your ipod, and it can smash your ipod into bitty pieces of shit if I dropped it on your ipod. you don't see me putting an InFocus sticker on my back windshield and wearing InFocus sweatshirts (only because they don't make them!)

p.s. firefox sucks

My move from IE to Firefox was expedited by IE crashing and taking down explorer with it. IE did what I wanted it to, except my OS would crash with it. Firefox was a welcome alternative. FF does everything I want it to do, much like IE used to. I have no idea of what is great about IE7 but as long as firefox does the job well enough, I don't see a need to change.

Opera is meh, and Opera users are often more intolerable than the Firefox zealots.

True dat.

The guy (Andrew K) (I know him as Mastertech from mozilla) that made "Firefox Myths" is highly disliked all over the net, from Mozilla to slashdot. He uses many different identities, from my understanding, because he's the biggest firefox troll around. Take a look at this thread dedicated solely to him:

http://www.webdevout.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38

He's also popped up at DSLRepots for his belief that adblock is stealing:

Firefox user by choice not influence.

I use a different browser all the time, ooh even OPERA, (though not a lot, but who the fuck cares?). There are assholes everywhere in every field of life, I don't see how this is news. there are also assholes in every religion, but I wouldn't smack talk the religion because of the asshole.

To me, I don't really see the big deal of using a certain internet browser. Whatever works for you, well, works.
