Switch to euro donations?

Post by pagefault »

I think we should switch our donation system to the euro from USD since the US peso is now worth less than the CAD. Making it no longer a good currency for most of us developers.

What about the Colombian peso?

(covers himself from flying objects)

Seriously, probably you should. The dollar is fluctuating too much, and at least in where I work, they startd to pay in Euros about three months ago instead.

This blows. I'm broke. If I had the money I would upgrade my comp with parts from usa. I just bought my school books from usa and saved like 50%.

He's just making fun of the USD by saying it's crap like the pesa since the CND is equal/more than the USD now.

UK Pounds. A common reserve currency, and stronger than Euro and US Dollar.

1 GBP = 2.01992 USD or 1.43347 EUR

Why not use the Canadian dollar for donations? That way, there is no conversion on your end.

And making everything there ludicrously expensive.

I wonder what'll happen when the US dollar goes back up... and it will eventually, because if it doesn't Canada will go right down with it as a hell of a lot of economies are based on exporting to the US.

Not really, it´s more because of the decisions taken by Bush's administration. The dollar over here can fall from 2100 Colombian pesos to 1800 in two hours, then jump up to 2200 in 10 minutes.

I vote for UK Pound over anything else. This reminds me of where I grew up, we all started using U.S. dollars because the local currency (Kina) was totally shot. (and the U.S. dollar wasn't at the time)

of course if it was up to Mimi (from Super Paper Mario) we'd all be using Rubees.

It doesn't get much better than watching Mario run on a gerbal wheel for slave labor.

What part of spending half a billion dollars per day do you think doesn't have an effect on the dollar?

Because It was a currency topic, then I just gave the Bush thing off the top of my head... then, well... one thing leads to another.

I hope he's a 3rd party.
We'll be spared the partisan bickering for a change, as they all gang up on the new guy.

Not that there's a snowball's chance of it happening.
