What's happened to this forum?

Post by MorteTheSkull »

I haven't really been here in a few years....is this place basically dead? Do any of the old regulars like Seifer still post here at all?

I've only just started posting here again, so I'm not too sure who's still around.

But yeah, the z-board doesn't seem to get the same level of traffic that it once did.

Interest in emulation has died down from back 6 years ago. Perhaps it is just as well.

I'm still interested in emulation, but I'm a complete novice.

Seifer hasn't posted here in a while, along with some of the old regulars.

it's prolly a little for the good, not as many seriously mentally challenged people either, but it's not dead, it's in hibernation.

the difference? ZSNES 2.0 IS coming, if it wasn't I'd say it'd be in a little trouble but I think things will really pick up with that release and everyone will come out of the woodwork to check it out and for bug reports etc.

there is still other emu projects on the forum though that are pretty active like bsnes, gambatte and VBA-M

People that were really active in the past now have more responsabilities, which makes "browsing a snes emulator forum" not that important anymore.

But if you post an interesting topic, people will answer.

I'd call this place dead. But then again isn't there already a thread about this? Or is it long dead too? I haven't really popped in too much here over the last year.

Interest in SNES emulation has died down. Interest in emulation is still going strong if you ask me. If ZSNES emulated the DS or a new system, I think this place would be filled with people.

The latest generation of teens don't care about the SNES as much. And the 20 something generation that was all about SNES 6 years ago have since faced the real world and either have divided interests, less time, or even lost interest.

Unfortunately, the bottom line is, the SNES is old news for gaining new audiences. ZSNES 2.0 will surely increase traffic a bit here, but I wouldn't expect the numbers of old.

If you build it, they will come. Think of this place as a junkie joint.

What version was ZSNES on when you got here? I came on around .400, which means mid 1998. Which is nearly fucking 10 years now... holy christ.

Oh wow, I'm pretty late to the party. I believe I first used ZSNES when 1.36 just came out.

I first faced Zsnes around my first grade of junior high school, I don't remember if it was version .6XX or .800.. Man, that more than 9 years ago!

I can't remember the first version of zsnes I used. All I know is that it was during the summer of 2000, and Top Gear 2 had some major graphics problems (but was otherwise playable).

First I used was 0.3XX something, or maybe 0.400. The "GUI" was a blue text box, white letters with 4 or 5 options, and most of the configuration was through command lines. It didn't run zip files, was still DOS only (although I got a frontend), and I used the new gfx engine all the time, cause it was faster even though it was a lot glitchier. That was back in 98/99 i believe.

LOL NOOB!111

I want to say I came in on .6 or .7
It was the 90s, and there was time for Klax.... wait, wrong thread.
Anyways, late 90s. DOS only. There were separate ASM and C versions.

Ahhh, glorious days of my youth.
