run button in DKC2

run button in DKC2

Hiya all new here :)

Just trying to configure my buttons to play the awesome Donkey Kong Country 2, but cannot for the life of me remember which button you hold down to make the Kongs run, i've tried a few combinations but none seem to work. Is it at all possible to run in the zsnes version??

It's the same for all the DKC series... the one that makes them twirl also makes them run (the Y button).

Ahh cheers for that, no fun without bein able to run : )

And how to jump whilst mounted on one of the animals? The normal jump button throws you off them instead :p

Jumping is the same button for the characters as it is for ... I'm not sure how you're mapping the keys (you shouldn't be doing it from Key Comb), but it should be from Config->Input.

The X button is for dismounting, the B button is used for jumping (whether you're on an animal or not, although there is one exception IIRC).

The run button is usually associated with Y.

That doesn't help someone who's never played a SNES game before though.
Still, it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to figure out by just trying every button.

To jump, press B. Both A and B will act as jump for the kongs while A will dismount an animal.

One of the downsides of roms. They don't come with the manual.

The upside is that they exist in the age of easily accessible information on the internet, where even scans of the manual can often be found.

I guess there are always FAQ's and guides which explain controls as well.

Which is included in 'easily accessible information on the internet'.

Anyway, I can think of very few SNES games where you need any external information to play the game and see everything, except perhaps for super-hidden stuff, which you won't find in the manual either.

This is incorrect. "A" is for tagging a partner in DKC, and for the team-up move in DKC2/3. In all games, it dismounts the animals.
