Copying and pasting cheat codes?

Gamepad acting up? Keyboard not responding properly? Can't get that other user to work? Read and post about it here.

Copying and pasting cheat codes?

Post by Flami »

Is it even possible to copy and paste cheat codes to the "Add Codes" window? I tried it, and it didn't work. That would suggest to me that it's impossible, but maybe one of you knows a trick. I really don't want to type out 500 codes by hand...

What on EARTH do you need five hundred codes for?

I was exaggerating. The real number is about 150.

As for what I need them for: ULTIMATE POWERFUL CHARACTERS in Lufia II: The Rise of the Sinistrals.

If they're all in the (i believe) 800000 range, it can probably be made in to an ips patch. One might already exist for this.

Any code can be made into a patch, dood.

Anyway, no, you can't paste into zsnes. I advise you only use the handful that already turns the game into a cakewalk, like max cash and currenthp = maxhp.

paulguy: Probably. I have no idea how to make one, so maybe I'll look.

grinvader: That's probably what I'll end up doing, which was my other resort. Thanks!

Well, yeah, one could take a ram patch and use it to modify the rom, but it wouldn't be as simple as a rom-only patch, since you'd just be directly putting a byte at those offsets.

And if the game decides to check if there's only a certain number of bytes in the rom, then I'd be n trouble?

If a PAR/GG code works, a patch will work. Said patch may be a real pain in the ass to cook up, though (which is why codes exist).

For the simplest case, infinite HP, it's not really a big deal to replace the subtract HP lines with no-ops. Once you've identified which commands are actually subtracting HP.

grinvader: I've heard that about patches, heh.

Gil_Hamilton: That might be a challenge for me.

Rashidi: Thanks. I'll have to keep that in mind.
