Compiling ZSNES with MinGW - Tutorial

Post by Aaron »

I was hosting the tutorial that Adventure of Link wrote (with help of his friend), but the domain to my host expired (my friend was giving me file hosting), and the website itself will probably be deleted soon. So, if anyone is to link to http://www.zcworld.net/filemanager/User ... nstall.txt; it's not there. However, you can now get it HERE.

AoL: You have a website now. It'd probably be best that you host it, bro.

[edit] I tried being a little more specific about where to get the tutorial now =/.

it's a small text file

boat it.

I'll do it <.<

And I didn't make that file, I'm not a big compiling nerd, that was xamenus. :)
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

The website isn't hosting it anymore?

<jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)

Try this. Someone apparently can't use the URL BBCode tag properly/at all.

I would love that too. I spent about 4 hours getting mingw configured and zlib and libpng compiled and installed, but I can't figure out how to get SDL setup

For those who don't want to be bothered with this, there is ZGet.

With the latest MinGW installer, I think this tutorial needs to be updated.

Xamenus, do you mind if I update it? Also, can I put it on zsnes-docs.sf.net?

I don't mind. (It's not entirely my work anyway. :P) Grab my latest update here: http://www.filelodge.com/files/room17/4 ... nstall.txt

edit: URL updated.

After you build and there's an update, how do you clear things so you can build from the latest? Make clean doesn't seem to do it

I just delete the zsnes folder each time before compilation, just to make sure that there aren't remnants behind.

You will have to re-update your source files from ZSNES CVS (or re-extract them from the archive, if you downloaded a tarball or official source release).
