Yes, they're working on it. If you can't be assed to wait, grab the latest source from SVN.

We are doing MAJOR internal work.

Next WIP should have some of the following nicities:
Only one main config file, all in plain text, fully commented.
All path issues taken care of.
Smaller footprint.
Debugger everywhere.
Graphics improvements.
Enhanced tools.
~5% more of ZSNES ported to C.

These are pretty big and important changes, so it's taking a while.
Don't worry we are working, we had 400+ commits since last WIP.

I'm drooling already just by reading about the improvements.

Would this include separate paths for states, save ram and ips patches?

Forgive me if I'm getting this entirely wrong, I don't speak english natively. But wouldn't what I mentioned be considered an issue involving paths?

Most likely it doesn't apply to you.

Right.. that must follow after N64 and GC emulation...

No. That would be feature requests involving paths.

Although our new setup will make aside from the GUI modifications your request a peice of cake to do, I mean it's like asside from GUI, to do what you want is 4 lines of code with the new path setup we implemented.

That's kind of pointless seeing how only a few SNES games used surround sound.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

Try Vortex if you have a surround sound set. It sounds sweet, especially in the beginning where the sound is going round.

I found 3 places in ZSNES leaking memory.
Cleaned them all.

Now from all the emulators I tested, ZSNES is now nowhere near close to the emulator which leaks the most.

In fact Snes9x and ZSNES seem to be fighting to be the emulator which leaks the least :)

Although Snes9x currently has the crown.

I'm not sure if it is already done at the moment.. pagefault would know better.. but supposedly you can try to use the SPDIF connection to pass the Dolby Stereo/Surround data some games have to your speakers (of course you will need the hardware to take advantage of this).

A related issue is that you SHOULD NOT enable the surround sound option when a game has Dolby Stereo/Surround feature.. it causes some problems in audio playback.

Surround sound is already emulated perfectly; the sound is outputted similar to an original SNES. Therefore, connecting your computer to a Dolby Pro-logic decoder should yield the same surround-sound effect as the original SNES.

I'm aware I'm part of why the next update is so slow to come up, but heh, shit happens as the saying goes.
