I'd settle for lighter and a can of WD-40.

Reminds me of what happened about 10 years ago at my old house. the driveway was literally crawling with tentworms (those catterpillar-like things in those pictures) that we filled a 5-gallon bucket with them.

Silkworms? if their silk is good the those catepillars mean cash. EDIT: Forget it, they are not silworms but I see a lot of silk anyway.

Have any of you guys had ladybug swarms descend on your current or past residence?

My family had a swarm descend once and it takes months for them to completely disappear. There's even one ladybug that still resides in our bathroom heater in the ceiling. God bless his soul and empty shell may he rest in peace ashes to ashes dust to dust

We never had anything like that, but we did come under siege from a massive swarm of moths last summer. For about 3 days it looked like it was snowing, the air was so thick with them. And then they decided to rest on one of our main streets, and and it sick as hell.

That happened about three years ago here. One of our trees out front was more-or-less a living mass of red. Haven't seen a single ladybug since the end of that summer.

Sounds like the problem we had with Japanese beetles a couple of summers ago. One of our pine trees was literally covered in them to the point they were crawling on eachother. Then we put traps out to catch them. We were catching about 10 pounds of them a day. It was strange seeing the giant seething mass of them in the bag under the trap. Then there were the beetles humping other beetles hanging out of the drainage holes in the bottom. It was like a giant beetle orgy.

My dad has that problem every year, but they like to eat his grape vines, not pine trees.

There's a small swarm that merely passes through my location after the first warm day (upper 70's) after the first frost.

Would there happen to be a novelty or disguise shop nearby? Maybe someone could buy a "toy" skeleton, dress it in drags and put it under an affected tree. That would look creepy after a couple of days.
What?
