MPAA requiring license of home theaters?

Says who?The MPAA defines a home theater as any home with a television larger than 29" with stereo sound and at least two comfortable chairs, couch, or futon.
That would defeat the purpose of a home theater. What other reason would there be to acquire one other than rubbing it in the face of people you know and make them know how awsome you are?Just because you buy a DVD to watch at home doesn't give you the right to invite friends over to watch it too.

It's probably never going to fly. What people do in their homes is their business. If I want to invite a couple of friends over to watch a movie on my bigscreen, that's well within my legal rights because a ) I'm not charging money for it, b ) it's not a public exhibition and c ), assuming I aquired it legally, the MPAA, studio and everybody else involved in the production and distribution of the movie has already been paid.
Besides, my 32" TV doesn't have stereo sound coming from the DVD player--it's surround sound--and the couch isn't that comfortable.

As a related note, here in Canada they really can't do much to you for downloading anything but they will bust your ass for every penny you can ever produce and every minute of your life they can take if they can prove you uploaded anything. Same goes if they can prove you are a hateful person (hate crime), that's the fucking death penalty here (like in Europe how the jews kill off anyone who was ever a part of Hitler's army).

I have heard of this happening before. My question is, how did they find out about this?
