Super Mario RPG stuck at axem ranger battle

Post by DeFender1031 »

I was playing Super mario RPG in zsnes and it was running relatively well, i had it quit on me a couple of times unexpectedly while rewinding, but then i get up to this one battle where it gets stuck. It isn't frozen because the animation and music is still running, just the battle stops. The attack that is supposed to happen doesn't happen and then it just sits there. Here is a link to a savestate just prior to the bug:

He was using SVN as of today namely r4067.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

I don't think he was trying to imply that.

Well he is, he equated r4067 with r4049 in his last post.

I didnt mean to equate the two. I'm using NEWER than the newest WIP. My point is that I'm not like the stupid people who are using version zero-point-zero-nothing and complain about things that have long ago been fixed, and no, my headphones are not plugged in.

Good, in the future, remember to attach version info to your bug reports.

I wasn't aware that that was necessary. I thought it was assumed that if someone is going to be making a bug report, that they'd be smart enough to be using the latest version, as it says to do in the FAQ.
1) Make sure you use the latest version of ZSNES.
Guess it was a stupid assumption as I have already indicated that there are people who aren't smart enough to use the newest version. Thank you for making me aware of this, and i will certainly make sure to include it in the future. I suggest though, that it be added to the FAQ, as the FAQ currently does not say anything about including version info in the report.

Ah, if only people read the FAQs.

Exactly. I've already stated the problem with mass files is fixed... but we get a bug report anyways. Oh is the point of putting up a relevent post.

While I will admit that people not reading the FAQ is a bug that requires fixing, this thread is supposed to be about a bug with Super Mario RPG in ZSNES that needs fixing. If we want to bash non-FAQ-reading, (and i would love to continue to do so,) I suggest we start a new bug report.

You could always try using an older version, though, I do think you will encounter mass glibc errors if you do.

SA-1 is still effectively borked by design. The speedhack used for SA-1 chips is really sensitive code and removing this speedhack means the support probably needs to be added back in (or have no support at all).
