Linux vs Windows and Netplay

Post by sxkorean »

I have linux, my friend has windows, is it possible to netplay?

Our roms have the same names, but can we get the same directory?

/home/god/Desktop/l33t warez RAWMz is where mine are...

everything else works, we downloaded the 1.42 version to make sure.

Yes.... but 1.42 isn't exactly the most stable thing for Linux though.

What is the equivalent to /home/god/Desktop/l33t warez RAWMz in windows? C:/home/etc...?

You don't have to have both of your roms in the same directory (or equivalents, if those exist in a normal, non-UNIX specific application environment). Anyways, you both just have to have the ROM directory set (not quite sure HOW to do this correctly, but load the ROM and restart ZSNES before Netplaying).

I would also recommend using ZSNES 1.42n for netplay. ;) (LINK)

I dont remember the 1.42n (special netplay release) version actually working better for anyone with netplay then the official 1.42. It was a test that didn't work out, so I'm puzzled why everyone recommends it in nearly every topic about netplay problems.

The version most stable for netplay is 1.36, I believe.

Hmm, well, we tried it out again. and it had the same error, "File Not Found at Remote".

So I searched the forums and found:

http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... emote+file

In which the second post made me think we had to, apologies, had I read a little further...

But still, we have our roms named the same thing, and our path files are correct, and we still get, "File Not Found at Remote".

Lost cause?

I believe there are some issues with the path in SDL port... so you will probably want to keep the rom path relatively simple there. (eg. short path, no spaces, etc)
