FFVI Advance comes out today/tomorrow.
Anyone besides myself grabbing it?
I have renewed interest in this game after seeing the 5 hour completion video. Making my 90+ hours on the SNES seem wildly pathetic.

Stupid stuff like that. This game deserved a better remake than this one.

You're right. It actually includes two new dungeons, some new items, new espers and the bestiary/soundtrack.blackmyst wrote:Dude, it's not a remake, it's a port. With some added stuff. And I hear the music's been redone? Hell, this is more than I was hoping for.
I'll pick it up. Just not right now.

what bugs me is that with the other ports the slightly modified the graphics to improve the quality to FFVI level but for FFVI itself it gets no graphical update because its "good enough" anyways, I hope that the FF rereleases on PSP coming later this year will go beyond FFI and FFII because they are updating the graphics for the first time since Origins.

Guess I'll just have to wait for a fan remake...Neo Kaiser wrote:I will too in order to test it out. If it is good the I'll buy the cart.

And that's a lot of time.

I picked it up today. At first glance, nothing seems too different. The music is tweaked for GBA. The SNES is still superior. Haven't had too much time play it. I am curious as to how Sabin's blitzs' will be altered for the new button layout. The dialog, though slightly different still comes across as the same.
Down'd it also. Pretty much what Square said. Though I do like the direction the new dialog is going. Haven't got time to play it outright right now though. I'm way too caught up in Call of Duty online. Damn this is addictive.

Wonder how much work it'd be to transplant the script into the SFC version.Deathlike2 wrote:On the other hand, the script is far better than the original. Just don't be surprised how bad the audio (mostly sound) is though.

Read on some blog:
Here's some other blog post on the script:

Regardless though, I haven't played the GBA one yet but I'll always prefer Woolsey's script no matter what. Nostalgia? Probably.
I'm all for clear language, but....can't say I like that very much.SNES Wedge: Not to worry. The Slave Crown on her head robs her of all conscious thought. She'll follow orders.

GBA Wedge: Relax. With that thing on her head, she's a mindless puppet.

Pretty much, but bosses are so damn easy to own. Also, it wasn't just FF3 that was bugged, it was another revision, and the original FF6 version (IOW, it's bugged across the board).SquareHead wrote:So, I take it the vanish/doom thing in FF3US was a bug exploit?

Now, is the new script like, really close to the Japanese? Because personally, I thought Woolsey's translation was phenominal, and one thing I would hate about making it closer to the Japanese is the Opera scene, which in the original Japanese was actually much less interesting, not containing foreshadowing to the later game like Woolsey's translation.
