zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator) Linux trouble
I've tried running with the sh command, all possible files and it just won't run. I'm used to the Windows version and it runs okay with Wine, but the joystick quits.
Anyone has the exact command on how to install it?

If you fail to spell ZSNES properly, the board filter will get to you.
As for your issue, did you read the instructions on how to install ZSNES?

You did when you decided to spell zsnes incorrectly.
If you compiled and installed zsnes according to the instructions, zsnes should run simply by typing "zsnes" in the command prompt. Considering that you misspelled "zsnes" in the title, I suggest trying to spell it correctly.

<pagefault> i'd break up with my wife if she said FF8 was awesome
I'm guessing you are looking at the zsnes source code.
First the basics. Computer programs are created by writing what is called source code and compiling that source code into an executable program (with the .exe extension in Windows).
Usually, Windows programs come already compiled and ready to run, like you are used to (you just run the .exe). On unix, sometimes they come as source code, which you have to compile before it can be run.
To compile zsnes and install it ready the install.txt document that should be in the directory named "docs". Then to run zsnes simply issue ./zsnes on the command-line, which will run the "zsnes" executable which you have compiled.
An easier way to install zsnes is to use the package manager that comes with your linux/unix distribution/flavor. A few examples of package managers follow:
Redhat linux: rpm/yum
Debian GNU/linux: apt, synaptic
Ubuntu linux: apt, synaptic
Gentoo linux: portage (emerge command)
SuSE linux: YaST
See your distribution's documentation for more details.

No. It is the failure to have the first S in ZSNES. This is not an NES emulator after all.lhuser wrote:OK, I'm going to try that tommorow. I'm a little tired now. Thanks for helping guys, I appreciate it!
BTW, the filter for zsnes is case sensitive, right?

They try to teach us British English in schools here but no-one speaks it. American English is just easier to pronounce and is what people are most used to from TV, books, games, internet etc.Clements wrote:If English isn't your first language and you use 'Zee' when conversing in English, then you were taught American English.
