Has anyone here played Lair?

Post by corronchilejano »

I was at a friend's house today, the ONLY one of all the people I know studying systems engineering or a postgrade that has a PS3, and that's one between more than five hundred people... mainly because the PS3 here costs $1200.

Whatever. I was checking the game and it's tough to control, but you get a certain "rewarding" sense when you can finally handle the dragon and make him fly to at least the approximate point where you wanted him to go (thanks to the training missions actually). I don't know what all the fuss about the graphics are... sure, they're nice, but most of the time you're not really checking the insides of the castle, and water sometimes looks like the aluminum paper they use to wrap up deliveries here.

I checked the reviews online and it seems this game has been bashed beyond recognition. What are your thoughts?

Some people+reviewers are solely obsessed with the graphics to forget what is really important... gameplay.

Occasionally, you will find a game that slips through that might not be that great in some areas, but interests you enough to get it.

It wouldn't be the first, or the last time it has happened. :P

Over hyped under delievered and harshly rated. I dont think the game got unfair ratings I just dont think enough games that suck get rated as bad as this. They're alot more games out there deserving of 40% that arent getting them.

you would hope so if the guy would invest that much money in the machine. That is the problem, their are so many people playing those systems and one of their key features is missing. I still think everyone is going to feel screwed when the next level of screens come out not long after they had saved up for and bought their huge LCD or Plasma. (see SED that is if they ever come out at an affordable price, still...)

I'll remain skeptical till someone does a head to head.

Hmm, the new firmware seems to have corrected the sixasses sensibility. According to my friend the dragon moves smoother, but he still has trouble dashing/180 turn.

Game sucks though. Takes half a day to go thorugh it and there's little reason to go and pass it again.

It's a shame, too, this really looked like it could have been awesome.

totally, and you would hope that the final missions would be hard enough (in a good way) to keep you from beating it so fast. It is arcade style action after all (or was in Rogue Squadron)
