holy crap.
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
Course you could just buy an R4DS and load an emulator onto it.

Does [Kevin] Smith masturbate with steel wool too?

- Yes, but don’t change the subject.

Probably the exact same hardware as the GBA SP Famicom adapter, only in a new DS-shaped shell.

Which means it sucks super monkey balls.

Actually, it uses Famiclone tech. The GBA one only used the GameBoy for IO, with the actual WORK being done by a standard 1-chip Famiclone. Everything else was glue logic and software to make the GBA talk to a Famiclone.

It was also one of the buggier famiclones. Presumably in part because everything had to go through the GBA instead of straight to the Famiclone.

Well unless it's implemented to use full DS power , then it's not gonna be too great imo , GBA has more of a 16:9 look while DS uses more 4:3 look

Just sayin it's for DS , it should run as DS

It doesn't matter WHAT it runs as.

Though the GBA is actually better suited to NES display.

While the aspect ratio is wrong, the vertical resolution is exactly half of the NES, and interlacing frames lets you get the full resolution(sort of).
The DS screen doesn't have enough lines, and must downsample the image. Results will not be pretty.

Both have the correct horizontal resolution, so all issues are in the vertical domain.

Either way, it doesn't much matter what the system runs as.
It's a Famiclone. It only uses the system for IO.
And if the GBA version is any indication, it doesn't do it right. I doubt that using the system in DS mode instead of GBA mode will really improve things when the main flaw of the first one was that it was a hacky bug-riddled kludge.
