If you are not using a VESA/VESA2 mode, please do not report graphical problems with the 8-bit graphics engine. The SNES renders in 15-bit and 8-bits simply won't cut it. This is why the infamous Chrono Trigger fog FAQ question exists. The lack of transparancies will cause many different rendering problems that cannot be accounted for and/or fixed.
So please, do not report graphical problems with the 8-bit graphics engine.
It is recommended you use Scitech Display Doctor if you have a video card that is supported or a VESA 2/3 compliant video card to take advantage of the 16-bit graphics engine. This also requires you to run Win9x as NT/2K/XP/Vista will prevent you from using either aforementioned options.
If you are using NT/2K/XP/Vista, you could try DOSBox, but that will incur more overhead as you are emulating DOS as well.
