Two questions (which may have the same answer):

- What are the most "accurate" sound options? Bit-rate, etc...

- What are the "best" sound options?
I'm interested in this as well.

Anyway, good to hear that 1.38 is in progress! I'm really, really looking forward to it. 8)

NEStopia 1.38 released.

-Changes-

As usual, awesome release. One tiny thing I've found is when VSync is enabled, going in and out the menu (fullscreen) lags considerably. 2xSaI filters also still absent. Most of configuration is now stored in .xml files.

Cheers 8)

You know, he's already said somewhere (in this thread) that 2xSaI was removed.

Looks like another great release. For the 2xSaI problem, maybe Marty could implement support for render plugins (just as in Kega, VBA-M, and Regen)?

I am already aware of this. It is just that I always used this filter, not too sharp and not too blurry. I have version 1.35 still running next to it.

I really hope it'll return one day.

Nestopia is apparently "bloated"

It's only bloated if the executable magically changes size overnight. I mean, it's the magic byte!

Having many options doesn't imply a program being bloated. Having poorly implemented options is a different story.

if nestopia had no GUI, and configured everything via a config file, would he say its bloated?

That Squall-Leon'dude does get around, doesn't he? Whenever I read his posts, he somehow forces his opinion every damn time. But, this is the internet... expect people like this to be around.

Unnecessary flamewar indeed.

I think he inserts his opinion as fact, which incites an unneeded/unnecessary flamewar.

He did the same on the Snes9x board, but meh.

Sometimes how he says it is annoying, but what he says (when he says it) could use some work...

He does it on every board he visits. A personal trait?
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I knew this would happen.

His words do not, I repeat, do not reflect the opinions of what I, Nach, Jonas Quinn and other VBA-M contributers think of Nestopia. I certainly don't think Marty's work is bloated at all. Sure, its very configurable, but its file size doesn't at all reflect bloat.

Neat! Time to update ... by the way, did Marty mention why he removed 2xSaI? Not taking sides on it (except to say I support Marty's ultimate decision either way), just semi-curious what his stated reason was is all. A quick search failed me.

Here's one such thread in case anyone's bored:

Not at all, it doesn't even use UPX! Yes, that was sarcasm in regards to another fun thread.

Where can i download 1.37 from? i wish to test the audio between the versions and confirm it is the newer audio drivers i have installed that has made it not sound so one sided.

I don't think anyone here would ever accuse you or the other VBA-M coders/contributers of that. The population of this board is pretty much idiot free. I doubt anyone here would think that just because one VBA-M team member thinks an app is bloated or whatever, that all VBA-M members think said app is bloated.

I participated in that conversation back in 2007 (just a little bit). As far as I can remember, he stated that the 2xSaI filters were bloating or messing up his code. Of course, I can't see why this is the case as many other emulators carry the 2xSaI code and still have it to-date.

He has also stated in that thread that there are "several games" that Nestopia doesn't run but that another emulator does. How strange that he has still not yet given even one example. I'd be really interested in knowing what these games are...
